Hi Ladies, My partner is off to Canada for 7 months next week, the dates have now been changed 4 times and we thought it would only be 6 weeks! we have not been together for too long, in fact when he get back we would have been apart longer than we have been together, but silly men fell for a handsome guy in uniform! how on earth do i cope with him away for 7 months I have no idea how to do this please help a very sad wag :(
aww babe u will be fine! welcome to wags and im lorraine. my oh was in canada last year for 4 months and it was hard, no denying that, but if u keep urself busy, it will go quick. where in canada is he going to? xx
Hi & thanks, not too sure where he is off to, not helping he is on exercie at the moment so we only have next weekend before he goes. We have put skype on our lappies so at least we can talk,

Hi chick, my oh is in iraq at the mo for 6 mths. He was in canada for 4mths end of last year. Its not the easiest job in the world, but I wouldnt change him for the world. As the girls say, lots of ebluey and blueys. I have skype (although he can use it out there) but where ever else he is, its great, means you can see them too. Come on here everyone is so nice, they are helping me heaps...... xx:p

Welcome to wags, the key is to keep busy, keep your mind occupied so that you are not at home waiting. organise lots of things to do with girlfriends, take up a course or something but get into a routine.
The girls here are great at offering support and taking your mind off things!!

Hi Hun welcome to wags, my hubbi was in canada got back beginning of May there are afew other ladies on here with fellas in Canada!! HUbbi has been twice now to Canada he really likes it out there!!
You will be fine, him been in canada is better than been in Afghan has you have loads more contact with them, has he got a laptop?? If so tell him to take it as they can pay to connect to a wifi internet connection its not expensive and if a few on the split the cost it will be less. we webcamed one another whilst he was there, every other night he could also text and call from his mobile but it is expensive!! SO tell him to take a webcam with him as it does help to be able to see them!!!
If he is in Canada im guessing it will be the base at Calgary (Camp Bastion)
What reg is he in??
Hiya hun, glad u found this site!! It really is a lifeline when you're an army wag! Try not to worry hun - my fella went to afghan last yr for 7 months and you'll be fiiinnneee! It is hard and poo at times but time does go quickly. With lots of love from eachother and support you'll be okay. Make sure u come on here lots and we'll all look after you!! xxxxxxxxxxxx

Just got on this site for the first time today, was flicking thru all the threads and saw this one - v relevant for me as my boyf's off to Canada for 4 months too, on pre-deployment training, leaving in two weeks. We've been together 9 months and so far i've been able to see him quite a bit (even tho it involves lots of long drives!) so it's gonna be weird not seeing him! any hints or tips very welcome!
is lovely to find all you ladies online, was starting to feel a bit lonely and he's not even gone yet...! :(
