Hi all

I am Janet aged 27 and very new to this. My hubby just got accepted into RAF and starts basic training at Halton on 23rd July then 16 weeks of trade training at Manston. We have been married 4 years and have a little boy who is nearly 4

I am very nervous about packing up everything and moving to god knows where. We are currently selling our house and going to move into MQ, but I am worried about what the houses are like.

Any advice would be welcome as I havent a clue about any RAF stuff.

I can't offer that much in the way of advice, have only been with my OH for about 6 months. But just thougt i'd say hello and welcome from a fellow RAF wag!

Hi and welcome to WAGs!

It seems like you are going through the same things as we all have at the beginning, lots of questions and no one with any answers!! I can't actually help you with the houses stuff as i live with my OH off base but i am sure it will all work out just fine. We all hear the horror stories in the press about the houses but lots of RAF families live in them so they can't be so bad and i guess you can make it your own. An upside is that you get to stay with him, rather than him moving away. You are perfectly entitled to feel nervous I know i would.

I think it is easier for the guys as they fall into a job with a ready-made group of mates and it's us girlies that have to start all over. Not that that actually helps you just an interesting fact!!

If you have any specific questions that you are worried about i (or other girls on here) may be able to help. I have been with my OH 2 years and am beginning to understand more about the RAF and becoming less scared of what it might throw at us! It does comes slowly with time.

hi and welcome, the raf houses arent as bad as ppl say they all look the same outside but inside there fine the ones at holton are good i have friends there! If there are any problems with the house you call mod and they fix it as soon as they can! i know its a scary thing moving i moved to suffolk in october didnt know anyone but you soon settle in and this site is brill! if you need any questions answered ill try and help x
