View Full Version : Thought i would introduce my self on Army Wags
Hi everyone,
I am rebecca am 20 years old, I am very shy and find it hard to talk alot but here goes.
This is the first time i have wrote on the Army Wags pages, i have wrote on Navy Wags but i have noticed more people write in army part than the navy part, so i thought i would say Hello.
Well my oh is in iraq, he called chris who 21 years old and he is in the navy, this is our first deployment, that was cut short after two weeks as his brother died, but now he gone back, he been back for over a week now and i miss him like mad, feels like apart of me is missing.
I have been with him for 7 months now and everything is going great, the only problems i have is not talking to him every day and what to send him, i sent him a parcel yesterday with bedding and shower gel, pasta things he needs, am now getting my next parcel ready to send at the end of the week, however this shoe box is really big and i cant seem to fill it, so if anyone has any food ideas that i could send thats not pasta or soup that would be great.

sorry to hear about your mans brother, that must have been hard for him. what reg is he in? my oh in afgahnistan till september and been together 3 years. it does get easier hun but as all girls on here will say, this site is a godsend and its great to tlak to people in same boat as you.
as for parcels, i love doing them!!! makes the time go quick and love to think of him opening them!! i send pasta, noodles ands similar as food aint great where he is. i also send him loots asweets such as haribo. he has also asked me for sum tinneed fruit. i sent him travel game, mini fan, magazines. anything that you can think of that he will like but im sure he will like anything you send

My OH is in Afghan with Charlottes so hopefully back by september but it is very hard esp when they first go, you need to try and get yourself into a rountine but i enjoy doing the parcels too, makes me think im helping him in my own little way. My OH asked for magazines, cards, chewing gum, i've also got him some Mr Kipking cake bars, not sure how well they will post but giving it a go, they have quite a long shelf life so hopefully be ok!
Sweets are always good too, if you go the supermarket, im sure you will get lots of inspriation! xx

Yes it was hard on loads of levels, one his brother going, and him saying good bye to go to iraq then having to come home and do the same again at the end of the two weeks.
How are you coping with all the news in afgan at the minute, i would be sick with worry, i hope your ok.
I was thinking about Magazines like zoo and car ones that he likes, so am off to the shops tomorrow to buy him more thing lol.

hey thats ok!! both mine and daisy girls oh know each other and are out in afghan together so we keep each other posted while they are away. yeah its horid when you hear anuther death. makes me feel sick and worry but then you gota try not to think about it. my oh was in iraq last year but this is harder. luckily not a full tour but want it too go quick!
yeah mags are good, i send them, but send anything really just not chocy for obvious reasons. i get letters from my man and he sumtimes says what else he may want.

Hiya hun welcome to wags - glad you found the site! Sorry to hear about your OH's brother - that must have been really hard for him to deal with. With regards to the parcels - well, where do I start?!!?! I used to send Mart SO much stuff! I used to send him sweeties and biscuits, CD's, DVD's, books, funny little things that I knew he'd like, all sorts hun! I mainly sent food, things that wouldn't melt too easily, I used to go to tesco and get bags of haribo and lollies and things like that. Cookies and pot noodles that sort of thing! I'm Lucy, 23... or 24 on Monday!!! My OH is in Afghan at the moment and has been for 99 days now.. tomorrow is my half way mark through the tour and I will be counting down not up!YIPPEE. I send my OH 2 shoe boxes a week, filled with all sorts of goodies, crisp/snack a jacks/ cd's/ magazines/ razors/ shampoo/ shower gell/ face wipes/ dried fruit.. he is particularly partial to dried mango now!! all sorts really. I'm sure you will find things, I just cruise around the supermarket for a while and pick out things that he might like.. This week he will be getting a real treat as he is getting his favourite.. brioche rolls!!
It sounds like you have had a tough time of it, sorry to hear his brother passed away must of been a very difficult time for you.

How has your day been? I got a call today off chris, he sounded abit bored, but might be because he just got up.
I have justed finished he parcels, have to send it in to parts as it wieghts so much lol. i sent out Cards, Pasta, Mags, News Paper, his Tablets, lip Barm, face mask lol, hand wipes, Ball game cookies lol.
Well i thought i up date you all, as you was all so kind to give me ideas. Thanks

well sounds like you had a good shop!! he he. i usually send one treat box with sweets and food in then one practical with face wipes, razors, toothpaste etc so he always stocked up!'

I live in eccles, not the nices part of manchester but not the worst.
So hows everyone evening been, i been up and down with doing these parcel lol, writing letter, it takes so long, but now the nights gone which is good, days are getting faster now YEA lol.

well im Katy...and 17 im currently waiting for my wonderful boyfriend to finish his tour in October. Hes away in afghanistan right now and i miss him sooo much.
