View Full Version : Not coping Newbie!
Hi everyone, my oh has gone away for the first time since ive been with him, only to BATUS in Canada, so no where dangerous, but im not coping well at all. Does it get easier with time?? he only left on Friday yet i havent stopped crying and feel really pathetic, especially as there are people on here whos oh are fighting in afgan and iraq.
He just rung then and i couldnt even have a proper conversation casue all i did was cry. feels like a huge part of me is missing, and cant see it getting any easier.
sorry for the moan but just could do with some hints on how to help!

welcome to wags, my oh has just got back from cananda last week. try not to worry it does get easier, just try to keep busy and stick on here coz all these girls are fab and will give you great advice. and dont feel pathetic coz it is hard at first, no matter where they are. my oh is based in germany so have had to get used to the distance from the start, i was a wreck at first and was always crying down the phone, but now, thanks to these ladies, i find it so much easier. hope ur ok chick xxx

hey hun, welcoemto wags, my Oh is in Afghan at the min but it doesnt matter where they are it's still hard! how long is he out there for?
Try and get yourself a hobby or something to keep you occupied whilst he is gone, maybe a somethign you want to do for your self and you could set a target of doing it by the time he is back.

He doesnt have a date but has been told it will be the beginning of October, so only about 3 months away.
Thanks to all of you for being so lovely, im definatly going to set myself something to achieve by the time he comes back, i think thats an excelllent idea!

hey hun, i was like u when my oh went to afghan, its hard but it does get easier just keep busy get a countdown going do anything to keep ur mind of it! xxx

hey hun. i know excatly how you are feeling.
my oh first posting was to batus. i knew he could have been sent to worst place but you still cant help but break down when you think they are away from you. its hard to get used to the, not being at the other end of the phone. but try not to worry hun. i promise you it does get easier. we are all here for you x
i know i feel awful for feeling like this when theres people like you hun who has a oh actually fighting in afgan and iraq, but when your used to being with someone all the time then there just gone, its awful. Then i start thinking about if im this bad now, how am i going to cope when he goes to afgan or iraq again.
I think i need to start a countdown like the rest of you, and be positive thinking of things to keep me busy!

yeah, start a countdown. i didnt want to at first coz when i started and was in the 100's it seems like ages away. but it gives you something to focus on. its suprising how quick it will go x
every tour is hard, no matter where they are, but they do get a little easier each time x
i think this site will definatly help alot, like a few others have said on here its sometimes hard to talk to friends, as they dont understand what im going through.

Hey Angel, Welcome to WAGS xx Hope you're feeling a bit better now I've been in the same boat when my OH was in Cyprus, you know they are "safe" and its not a conflict tour but it's still hard. I filled those 6 months with letters, parcels, silly antics for when he got back and plenty of girlie stuff to keep me occupied, oh and uni lol (bottom of the list!) x Just come on here and vent chick xx Big love xx Lucy

I live quite near the centre at the moment. my oh is in 2RTR based at Tidworth.
Had a good day today though! thinking more about how happy i am to have such an amazing man than thinking about how long hes away for and its helping!!!

HI hun, im Helen. Welcome to wags.
My oh is in Iraq at the mo. We have been together 2 years. In that time he has been to Canada (batus) belieze, mexico, poland and wales. He is normally based i germany. I still cry when he goes, but know that once he has gone, I can start a count down to him coming home.
Glad you feeling better today. Come on here, the girls are great. When you civvi mates dont understand.... the girls on here sure do!!!!

my oh has just got back from batus canada he was over there for 4 months at first all i did was cry untill i found this website the girls on here r all amazing and help u when u feel down, at the miment it properl doesnt feel like it will get any better but it will, i set my self goals and when i achevived them i set another, i also had look forwards like going out on the town or my frinds bday that way once them days have pasted u look back and think wow i have done it!-i did!
i am still waiting for my oh to come home he is coming home friday and it is going to be worth every wait!:p
trust me hun it will fly be and u will be so proud ov urself cuz i am!
