View Full Version : Hi I'm new to this!
Hi I am new to this site, although not new to being without my o/h. He is in the navy and away on deployment until Christmas. It is really hard for me to admit this, but even though we have been married for 3yrs I am really struggling to keep my spirits up this time around, and part of me feels like a total failure for not coping as well as I feel I should. He is really good at keeping in touch, but its hard not to envy him when he tells me about the great places he is visiting and I am stuck feeling frustrated at home! All my friends have "normal" home lives and I know that they try to understand, but in reality they can not quite get how lonely I am without him. Has anyone got any advice on how to cope better than I have until now?

Hi welcome to wags Im Michelle been with lee who is a soldier for 8years married 1year! Dont worry about not coping i often have feelings like this when he is away, the only thing i can advice is to keep busy write loads and come chat to us girls x

Welcome to wags, you are certainly not the only one who feels like they aren't coping ..I'm going through the same thing at the moment. Feel like I'm a burden to my OH and not being such a good WAG that I thought I was. I have tried really hard but at times I get down and can't help but feel I should be trying harder not to feel that way. Truth is it's all part of the roller coaster that comes with a tour and we all go through it so you are not alone.
I'm sure your man is proud of you as you are of him
Lots of the girls here will give you support and a friendly ear to listen to you so don't worry if your friends don't understand cos we do.

Hi Annie dont stress yourself out. My o/h is in the army and he is away until nov. It is hard no one can deny that but I find writing to him alot helps. When he went away the first time Chris gave me a little metal angel the size of a coin with strength written on the back, he told me I will be strong while he is away as I have his strength with me always. That helped so much because I had something special that made me feel like I can do it and make him proud.
Just remember he is doing his job so he can come home to you! Wherever in the world he is you will always have his heart and that is all that matters !

hey hun welcome to wags! dont feel bad about not coping we all know how hard it can be, my OH is away in Afghan at the minute and im finding it harder than normal him being away but since i found this site it has helped me loads! everyone is so supportive and in the same situation so we understand xx

Welcome to WAGs! :) Everyone finds it really tough at times, so dont beat urself up about it, you are experiencing feelings that are completely normal....so dont worry sweetie. I'm Amie, been my OH for 4 years, he's in the Army. He's done 3 six month tours to Iraq and he's off to Afghan for 7 months in September. Thanks all of you, I had a really stressy week and just felt at the end of my tether! Managed a few days off work and that seems to have helped. Thank you for all your support- to be honest your messages made me cry. Its great to know that I am not going loopy and that others have gone through the same range of emotions, I just seemed to be going stir crazy!
