View Full Version : Newbie to Armywags and newbie army gf
Hi.
I just wanted to say hi as I'm new on here!
I met my army bf in Apr over a weekend then he went to Kent for 3 weeks training, he came to see me for 5 days and is now in Iraq :-( So it's a VERY new relationship but he says he love me and I love him too! We are going away to Kenya when he's back on R&R in Oct, can't wait!
Does anyone have a bf who is based in Germany????? I'm not looking forward to when he's done in Iraq because he will be back living in Germany and I won't get to see him much! It's really difficult starting a relationship with someone in the army, especially as I don't get to see him.
Does anyone have any advice on visiting him in Germany and what kind of gifts he might like while he is away? I have already sent him bits and bobs, magazines, books, silly underwear, DVDs, photos but now I'm getting stuck for ideas.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated, thanks ladies

Hey hun welcome to wags!!! my oh was in army when i met him but knew that anyway so kinda knew what i was getting myself into! been together 3 years and hes down to his last few weeks in afghanistan, you do get used to them being away but it does test you. but alsong as you both want it then you will be ok.
as regards to parcels well what you sent sounds good. i supose he has more acces to things being in germany than my oh does being in afgahnistan but yeah the usual such as mags, sweet, razors, toothpaste. iv sent my oh lots past meals and super noodles to add to his ration pack. just anything really you can think of. chewing gum, snack bars, few sill things i have sent too. letters are still good though.

Welcome to wags, your not too far away from me Im in Doncaster! Im married been with hubbi for 8years but I dont live on camp! He is based down south so only see each other at weekends!
Ive sent all sorts to hubbi when he has been away, sweets, socks, magazines, computer games for his laptop, DVDs, my underwear LOL, photos, camera, the list is endless LOL
There is a website where you can send out sweet boxs full of different kinds of stuff but are expensive or maybe a regiment teddy!!
hey hun, welcome to wags, my Oh is Afghan at the minute but is based over in Cyprus so dont get to see him that much really, when he is in Germany dont worry too much as you can get quite cheap flights home or you could go see him!
Send him anything in the parcels, im sure he would appreciate it, my OH asked fro Tinned fruit, so theres an idea, cereal bars, sweets, anything really, just go round the super market and if it doesnt need cooking then might be worth a try! xx
Hi Becca, Welcome!!! Yes it is difficult ive not been with bf long either, he is based in Iraq and usually send him magazines, sweeties, loads of pics of me, books etc! oh and a bendy Pink Panther that can do yoga moves!!! Im in the chatroom if ya fancy a chat!

Welcome to WAGS !! I'm Lucy, 24 and my man is in Afghan, he has been there since March but is back for his RnR in less than 48 hours!! Very exciting times!!
It is hard when you don't get to see your man and being a army wag isn't easy, but it is worth it !!! I think your OH will love all the bits you've been sending, there are many threads on here with lists of things you can send to your OH's.. maybe have a look and they might give you inspiration!!

Hi Becca, welcome to WAGs :)
My OH is currently based in Germany, and he's goin on deployment to Afghanistan in September. The Germany issue shouldnt be a problem hun so try not to worry about it. You can make it work and you'll still get to see your OH, just not as often as you would like, but you can still have a great relationship.

My o/h is based in germany and its really not that difficuilt, the flights can be really cheap both ways, so he could come to you or you could go to him. Being an army wag is hard but its sooooo worth it huni.

hi hun well i dont know about the germany thing but when i was with my ex i sent him as many letters as i could an in the package he go he had sweets noodles an things like that and some pics but with my current bf i said that i would send him a ipod if he goes out with all our songs on it an our fav ones that we like and also lodes of pics all dasted with aq description of who i was with an what i was doing i also had an idea of gettin a vido camra an makeing vidos like walking round the house an getting my mum an steve an my family that know him to just say hi an send it out on dvd so hope that was some help lol
