View Full Version : Help - I'm a new RAF Wife!

Mrs K

Hi,

I'm new to forums of any sort and especially new to being a RAF wife so please bear with me.

Can anyone give me any help/advice....?

I got married to my husband in June and he is based at Benson, so I have only be down here 2 months and still getting to grips with everything.

We did the whole long distance thing for 3.5 years (altho briefly lived together in Scotland when he was a Leuchars - but that wasn't as scary cos we didn't live on base and weren't married - so I felt I could escape) and so are adjusting to being married along with me adjsting to living in Oxon.

I am finding it particuarly difficult as all my friends and family are in Nottingham and I gave up a really good job to come down here (and I'm now doing a rubbish one while I look for somethin better) and I don't know where to begin making friends or getting settled into both life down here and life as a WAG????

Don't get me wrong - I am loving being married and seeing my husband all the time, its jsut taking a while to adjust!

Any advice welcome!

Firstly Hi!

Secondly PM?! (VERY new!)

Thirdly, I thought there would be more social events to be honest, but after the first few when we moved into quarters they seem to have dried up!?

I have been introduced to the other halves of those he works with, but there doesn't seem to be many who don't have kids!?

I am quite sporty but again, there is little in the way of sports clubs/activities for dependants.

Hi Mrs K, welcome to Wags!!!

I'm pretty sure someone else on this site has a partner who's at Benson so you're not on your own.....I'm sure who ever it is will catch onto this thread and let you know! Anyway, hope you enjoy the site, we're all very friendly and if you need to speak to anyone about anything, there's always someone about.
