Hey there - this is a bit good isn't it?! I've been wishing for something like this for weeks - my OH is in Iraq at the moment - went out for 2 weeks to cover another fellas' welfare issue and got told upon arrival that he is there for the full 4 months :(. His first tour since we've been together - I've just had major surgery and was only out of hospital 4 days before he went - I'm pretty immobile, stuck in Leeds on the internet all day with not even work to distract myself from him being away!!! Oh - and we don't actully have a house... hunting for somewhere to live, ha ha. It never rains does it?! I've been a bit wobbly the last few days - was really glad to find this!

My OH was in similar situation, he's in Afghan at the min, was only supposed to be ther couple of weeks but now there until January! Typical Army!

Thank you - relief to find somewhere where people know!! Civvies (oh god - I'm catching it now) don't get it - and why would they to be fair?! Sometimes I just want to slap them - one of my friends was in tears because her boyfriend has gone to Cuba on a diving holiday for two weeks - seriously?! Are you kidding me?!

Hey Number2 and welcome! Yep you'll find once your in this situation you find out who your real friends are, half of mine only ring/text me when they want something yet when i ring up crying or wanting advice etc, they dont want to know. sorry to put a downer on it lol xx

i have really found out who my friends are since my oh went away!!! and i have had fab support from my best mate and the others have been a bit ok we will listen but you can tell they dont wanna! and one friend i havent heard a peep from sine oh went away!! x x

Know what you mean I know my o/h hasnt gone yet (goes in two weeks) but already it bugs me how people dont understand. My o/h is home next week, our last week together untill R&R, a friend wanted me to go out next weekend I said no and youd have thought id had greatly offended her she just doesnt understand after next weekend i can go out anytime for the next however many months it may be
but let it go over your head hun people dont understand and most probably never will, people wont always think about what they are saying to and infront of you (they dont mean it), just come on here and have a good moan with all of us, we understand and are all here for each other

well said - hope you 'enjoy' your time left. It's such a horrible feeling waiting for them to go - I almost just wanted oh to leave so I could just get on with it. Didn't wobble at first though - took a few days to sink in. Make sure you have lots of pictures... and sex. Lets be honest - we all miss it when the desperatepain of the first few days subsides...!
yeah think the waiting is just as hard its always in the back of your mind. gonna have a fun week (with lots of sex :D) he he he

hes based in germany but im still in england didnt see the point in going just yet to be left on my own while hes away (and i love my job too much)

makes sense - stick with your support network, especially if he's not there. Oh is based in Dishforth but away at the mo in Iraq - just found us a place inbetween his work and mine - got to get it sorted for him coming back in Jan, Big job and I can't even walk yet, lol! You been together for long? I can't believe I was ever without oh - can't believe how quickly you become a wag either, lol
yeah thats what I thought. You take it easy you know, make sure you recover properly, I work in surgery and ive seen too many people hurt themselves by not resting after surgery. Have you got somebody who can help you sortout the new place?

Hmmm -good advice Jenbob - the hospital didn't actually give me any real aftercare instructions- I'm a bit worried that I might be overdoing it :confused: but have no way of telling! I have some friends who will help with that - it's the day to day things that just ahve to be done. Had no idea how much you use your stomach muscles!! How do we not all have six-packs... even opening doors is a strain soem days, ha ha! Still, it's getting better everyday :) Thanks for the advice :)

Hey. My OH has just been flown out to kuwait for yesterday for 6 months leaving me wih our 5 month old boy to take care of by myself. i am just angry cos he signed off october 2007 so should have been out by now but because it was on paper and they changed to computer systems he had to sign off again in august this year cos the army 'couldnt find' the one he signed on paper, its so frustrating. he has been away since august tarining to go out there so have had the baby to look after myself since then when he was 2 month old. this is all just so hard, how can i do all this alone till june??
long way to go till he is home :(
Hey hun, firstly welcome to wags!
Secondly, try not to worry about how you will cope, you will! My OH was away from when our daughter was 4 weeks old and we only saw him after that on occasion as he was based in Ireland and was on exercise a lot. I knwo thats different than him being in the sands but you cope because you have to.
Its great the way the army always 'misplaces' paper work isnt it! just think at least you wont have much longer left at this!
