Hey there girls, im new to all of this, the website and being an army wag. My oh has been at basic training now for about a month. Looking forward to talking to you all, will be nice to have people to talk to that understand how i feel. xx

I'm Lucy, 24 and having been dating my soldier for nearly 2 years now my OH has just got back from Afghan. I was completely new to all things military before my OH came along so understand how you must feel!!

Yeah its hard as we havnt even been together that long, only 3 and half months, although him being away has made me realise how much i love him, looking forward to seeing him, does it get any easier? xx
No it gets worse lol.
OH came straight out of basic on to a tour. Now that is class 1 sh1t. Hopefully you wont have that.
Its not all that bad though, the distance will either make or break you, but if it makes you then you should be stronger and closer than ever.
Look forward to his passing out parade, it is not over rated when people say its the proudest moment of your life!
Oh dear, hard now. Just wanna give him a cuddle, me and his mum are looking forward to his passing out, we are taking lots of tissues lol. I hope tht it does make us stronger, never felt like this before. xx
amanda u will need loads of tissues. i don't normally get emotional, but that made my heart so proud. even watching his DVD now still makes me shed a tear! lol
i will remeber that, still a while till he passes out yet tho, im learning to take things one step at a time, sometimes i feel like i should do everything at once. x

Yeah i agre with you there chick. I think once you're in this situation, you realise who you're true 'civvy' friends are, and now i realise i've not got any. But it doesn't matter, people on here understand me way more than my other friends ever have.

yeah got some good friends dont get me wrong, but when it comes to this i dont feel like i can talk to them about it as they dont get where im coming from. xx
Yeah i get you, i've got i guess 1 good friend but i feel she takes advantage. When she's down i'm there for her, but when i need her, she doesn't really care, she does try but asks to see what her bf is doing first lol. And my god it gets annoying when they say 'so and so hasn't rung this morning' lol

He got back in October from Afghan is also in 2para too lol! xx
The trouble is alot of my main friends are single so they cant even relate to having a bf. I no what u mean though, i dont here from my oh for days and there like 'he hasnt text bk' after like an hour lol x
well katy, i just hope it makes us as, im all loved up, hoping he feels the same xx

It doesnt matter whether your mates are civvys or not. An old school friend who I still talk to but is no longer with her boyfriend that as in the army ever bothered to ask ho my OH was doing orhow I was coping and m other lose friend whos OH sadl passed away in Afghan a year before my OH deployed never bothered toask how Iwas doing, but I can understand wh she would want to seperate herself from that -but then her new OH isjoining up anyway lol -tad confusing!!!
You will find out who your true mates are especially when your OH is on tour. But before you shut any mates out, unless they are inyour situation they cant understand how difficult it is, soabit ofleeway and patience with all your friends is the way togo!
