View Full Version : Army Lingo
Heyy everyone, new to this, and thought i'd start a post.
Just wondering if any one else's OH's talk army lingo to you and whether you all understand it?! My OH does, and i'm getting used to it now, and understand what he's on about most the time, although the fact that we have completely different accents doesn't help still!
He's decided to make me an ARMY WAG dictionary, so that i know all the terms he uses.
I even now talk some army language to family and friends without realising it.
Anyone else have this? Or any army lingo they tend use?
Kates:) xx
haha mine does it all the time but I found that I actually use the lingo now too lmao but there is a group on Facebook called squadie dictionary ;)
Hi kate, yep my oh uses the lingo all the time and im still none the wiser now, i get the usuall like squared away, redders, ices, cup of wet, brimmin and a lot more, but to be honest i usually tell him to talk civvie cos i dont get it at all:eek:

*sneaks on wearing a wig* I'm not under 21 but this link:

is very handy for the army slang.
Btw, buckshee is an old colonial word (British Raj in India, so prob from Hindi or similar) and it means free of charge. But in the army this usually means it's been nicked!
andy doesnt use army lingo with me i just get scotish lingo which i think is harder being welsh myself lol. my ex used army lingo around me but then again i did meet my ex on a army week away when i was on the APC lol

hahaha was looking up some things on here and this kinda tickled my funny bone.
Spit-Roasted
(v.). The process by which two male soldiers re-enact scenes from their favourite jazz films and magazines.
The normal procedure is to find a fat, ugly and desperate girl prepared to go back to the block and there be shagged roughly from behind by one Soldier whilst simultaneously fellating the other. Never as much fun as it looks. The only exception to the 'fat, ugly, desperate girl' rule occurs at RMAS and in the University Officer Training Corps where, paradoxically, stupefyingly good-looking female OCdts are prepared to give their all to various permutations of male Colour Sergeants and Warrant Officers against a promise of future good grades
i've heard it before but not put this way lol xxx
I find it annoying thet my oh calls every thing including me a 'civvie' lol
The phrase 'hanging out' makes me laugh.
I learnt a new one the other day,
Schimffing - means moaning, or having a rant...
I thought it was something to do with pipework.
I'm pretty used to army lingo though, cause my Dad was Army.
x
Lol yup all the time!! I want some SCOFF sarah, do u mean food?? And loads of other terms i cant remember
