Hi i'm Emma and new to this site.
My man is in the RAMC (think thats the right way round - lol) we havent been together very long and he is in Afghan atm I met him about a month before he got sent out to Afghan he was on rapid responce so had no idea that he was going and we both were completly gutted when we found out :mad: as we hadn't spent that much time together because he is based in Germany and was visiting some friends when we bumped into each other.
I first met my OH when he was training in Southampton to become a Dr and then when we bumped back into each other earlier this year we just clicked, and before he went to Afghan we were talking, by MSN, email and phone for over 6 hours a day.
I found this site, just at the right time as I was feeling really low with him being away and not being able to talk to him as much as I was used too. It was when I stumbbled over this site and read a story by one of the member and made me realise that I wasn't silly to be going through some of the emotions thad thoughts that were running through my mind.
What a fantastic idea to set up this site, and I am looking forwad to talking to members and reading more stories.

i'm new too. my oh went to afghan two weeks ago for 7months we have been together 16months after meeting in a club in swindon. im at university in cardiff and at the time he was based at tidworth, after a chance meeting in a club he asked me out on a date the next time i was home and we have been together ever since. i know its hard being away from your oh, as of auguast last year he got a posting to northern ireland where he has been ever since. (alot of money in palne ticket from cardiff to n. ireland been spent lol)
i love this forum and have wanting to get on it for a while now. the feeelings are completly normal as i am going through them atm as well.
the forum seems a great place to meet people in the am situation and help and support the feelings that you are going through. already they have been a great help just reading them. hope to get to know more people soon.

hey girls welcome to wags! you'll find all the support you need on this site! looking forward to talking to you both. My OH is in afghan at the minute, he's been over there a month on wednesday. he's based in northern ireland as well, flights from heathrow to ireland are fairly cheap so we're ok there!

Seven months :eek: that is a long time I am lucky as my oh is only away for 3 (i hope) but this is the army we are talking about, love em and if thats what our fellas want to do then we will support them, like they support us in what we do. Then we are thinking about moving in with each other watch this space........
Just fingers crossed they come back in one piece. At least with my oh being a Dr or SMO in army terms he is in good hands and the guys around him are too. :)

It's good to look to the future... We are hoping to hear if my oh gets his transfer if not he will be handing in his notice he wants to be back in the uk and so do I as I am not too kean on moving to Germany, but will if he decides that he will stay, just not yet. You will have so much fun travelling I did it on my own a few years ago and always wished I had someone to experience it with. I have a little girl to think about now and don't think I could travel everywhre with a toddler (to be).
That is good timing, was it planned that he would be leaving the same day?

well it was kinda planned when i met him he has been trying to sign off but with no success and then he gets his n.ireland posting we had to wait until he got there. but signing off for april we planned together so i will graduate uni the same year and we can then plan our trip together. i cant wait im so excited... lol but got a long wait yet...

My o/h is in Afghan at the moment, he's been there for nearly 2 weeks.

Im new to the site too :0)
My OH James has not left for Afghan yet but leaves in september so kinda feeling it now, He leaves for his new unit in July as he is a Instructor at a training reg at the moment, Thats how we met as I work at the same camp as he does, I joined this website as I had to move away from home for work and have no real mates where I am living now and thought that it would prob be best to make mates with people that are going through the same situation.
Where do you live? How long have you been togther with ur other half?
