just thought i would drop a message to introduce myself. I am a 25 year old nurse from London. My boyfriend is a para and went off on Monday to Afghan :( Not really been through anything like this before and probably the hardest thing i have ever had to do. I miss him like crazy.
Anyway - enough of my whingeing :D

heya hun welcome to wags, my oh left for afgan on his first tour on the 15th. This is my first tour with him and this is his first tour so this will be the hardest 6 months of our lives.
I know that the tour will have many ups and downs best thing is to keep busy i have my first parcel packed and ready to go. And planning on doing some painting with the baby tomorrow msking footprints and handprints for his dad.
You'll find there are a number of girls with men away dont be afraid to ask anything.

This is his second tour - definately my first and i am looking forward to getting his parcels ready and stuff. I am just scared that i am going to get a 'bad' phonecall in the middle of the night :eek:
oh hun try and not worry.. atm id be glad to even have a phone call in the night lol i have to wait until rnr before i get to speak to oh. But if you think that or worry it'll make it harder, and it'll make you ill eventually.
I'm sending a fake rose in each parcel and im aiming to send one each week lol so he'll have a huge collection of roses i so hope the boys dont think im soppy or over the top lol.

It's kind of easier knowing that there are loads of other girls going through the same thing. I have decided to boycott the newspapers so i can't read anything about Afghan or fatalaties. silly i know but i won't worry as much if i don't read about it.

Welcome to Wags - the girls will look after you. My OHs off to Afghan in August and I know I'll get lots of support from here. Just start writing your letters and packing your parcels and you'll soon start ticking off the days.
Its hard but somehow we all manage it and get through it xx

its not silly alot of women and even men with partners over there do the same. My ohs mum is boycotting the news shes got two sons out there so she is boycotting everything and anything to do with news and media. i'm the opposite i like to know whats happening. but its what ever works for you is best.

what regiment is your oh in ? as i know that a bulk of the welshguards went on the 5th.
