oops - posted this in the army wags forum by mistake. Newbie error :o

so... a little copy/paste action later...

Hi

My husband is applying to go into the RAF as an engineering officer. Due to his current contract he would be looking at going in late in 2010. I'm a bit new to all this - none of my friends are in the forces, or married to someone in the forces, all my information comes from a friend of my mum's whose husband was in the army until recently.

Is there anything I should know, or should be asking about? More specifically is there anyone here married to/dating an engineering officer who could give me some more specific answers to a couple of questions I have?

A little bit about me - I'm in my mid twenties, been married for, um, 8 months, I'm currently unemployed/a housewife/a struggling writer depending upon how you want to look at it. I volunteer with the Air Cadet Organisation, which I love. I live in the Midlands and when I get stressed I bake cakes (and then try to find people to eat them to save me from myself!).

Looking forward to talking to you all
x

Hi Capreece!!

welcome to this site it is brilliant, my OH is in the RAF, hes not an officer but he is an engineer so ill try to answer the questions if you like?? :-)

congrats on getting married, im bugging my OH to set the date but its all been put up in the air as weve just been posted overseas... but have just agreed that ill start planning the wedding while he is in faulklands from Dec to April,

the RAF is an amazing career but does have its downsides... like time away your oh, but the pros are amazing when your married, you have so much security, acceptance and help :-)

hope this bit helps and any questions, these chicks are brill!!

Hiya! Welcome to the forums hun!
I just joined myself, but the girls here are an amazing help! :)

My fiance is joining the RAF very soon so that we are financially capable of being together, not sure what he'll have yet, he's just said a desk job.

I'm a bit scared on a few things myself but it'll all be ok in the end, just have faith :D

my h2b is joining the RAF as well. he has just recently passed his fitness test and now he is just waiting to get his dates through of when he starts his training. we are due to get married but we havent made any plans yet because of him doing his training. nothing has been planned yet because we are not sure when he is starting he training and when he is going to finish. its all happening so fast. im finding it a bit scary but it is exciting at the same time. just not looking forward to him being away for long periods of time.
