Hiya everyone! ^_^

I'm new to this whole thing, and I found this thread and thought it'd be an amazing place to talk to people and find out everything I need to know.

To sum up my story: My fiance Ben is British and I'm an American. We met over youtube over a common interest and started talking. He came here to meet me at a cosplay convention (costume convention basically) and he proposed to me! :D We were thinking of just getting a visa and getting a marriage license for now, until we can sit down and plan a proper wedding for ourselves.

Our original plan was for him to move here, but the situation turned, and he decided to join the RAF for us to be together, and I'm gonna be moving to him.

I'm really scared. I have no idea of what to expect, but moving to a whole new country is a bit intimidating since I'll have no friends. I get scared we'll finally be together and I'll never see him, even if he is only wanting to take a desk job. I really want a future with him so so much, and I just don't want it to all fall apart.

He always says, "I'd waiting longer than this for you" (we're hoping in 1-2 years we'll be together) and "Even if you give up, I'll come find you when I get out." which is so sweet, but I want to know that we can have a future, so I'm just really nervous right now.

But I'd love to make some new friends and find out what it's really like to be an RAF wag. I'm really proud of him for doing this for us so :)

Hi, sorry cant help you when it comes to being with someone in the RAF, I have a vague idea of how you feel my husband is in the Army and we have just arrived in Canada this month, so can imagine how you must be feeling about going so far away from home. Although I do have to say from my personal point of view even with the seperations etc, its worth it for the time I do get with him x

Hey there! Thank you all for the friendly welcomes! ^_^ This site is amazing!
Ahh, cool, so both our fiances are in the RAF! Well, mine's not yet but he's going for it :) But yeah, I live in Pennsylvania in America right now, lived here all my life, but to be with Ben, I'll have to move to the UK, which is a scary thought since everything is do different! lol, but I'll adjust.

And we can definitely support each other! :D

And okies, thank you! He just came home from his second interview and said he might be gone a lot but with a desk job, I'm really not sure, I'm so new to all of it haha. I'm just worried on how I get to him and if we can ever have a real wedding, or if he'll be away all the time :(

But thanks so much again for all the friendly welcomes!

yea i bet it is very scary!! at least we speak the same language? thats gotta be something?? hahaha

im not sure about desk jobs chick as my OH is an engineer so hes away abit but home most of the time, but im sure you both will have a real wedding! :D:D before i met my OH i thought the RAF or any military really, was very strict and very formal etc as my dad was in the RAF and we moved about alot, but it isnt really that bad, he will work hard in his training, but after that its like a big family, thats what its where were based anyway,

dont get me wrong it is very very hard when your oH is away but you get through it by joining this site and surrounding yourself with friends, who you will make lots of on bases or even off :-) or do what im doing, getting a dog hahaha!!! it is like a big family,

well honey if you have any more questions.... just ask :-)

Haha it is! The thing that intrigues me most is that you drive on the opposite side of the road from us :p

But thanks for all the help hun, I'm so glad I found this site, it's VERY comforting ^_^ Ben tells me all of these things that get me really worried, but reading on this site, things don't seem so bad...we'll just have to adjust ^^

I'm really hoping I'll make some new friends! I'll need some since all of mine will be in a whole different country! lol, and we were planning on getting an Australian Shepherd, so that'll keep me company :D

Thanks again for all the help!
