View Full Version : Wedding Help!!!
Hey girls,
Im quite new on here, haven't posted yet!!
Me and my OH have decided to get married...totally out of my mind with excitement lmao!
The only problem is, is that im still reasonably new to the whole army thing..(trying to get my head around it is harder then i thought)
We've got a three week holiday booked for july which was the only leave he could sort out, so i think we're going to be treating this as a pre wedding honeymoon..
The biggest problem i have is everything else!..hoping to do it before the end of the year, so not much time...What exactly will i have to plan (you know, the sort of things like giving notice) I don't think we're going to have much money for it, but the most important thing for us is to be together.
Any help is appreciated, and hints and tips if any one has some for a wedding on a budget!
Cheers girls
Becky xx
welcome 2 wags hun.
i got married last weekend, 13th & it was a small simple wedding. there was 30 of jus in total.
firstly, have u set a date? where do u plan 2 marry? if its in a 2 a register office give ur notice of marriage as soon as, it cost us £30, £50 deposit & an extra £100 for the cermony room is what we had 2 pay.
secondly, depending on how many ppl ur invite, why not chat local resturant or hotel about havin a meal there & see what they can offer u.
dress....... try looking second hand maybe? mine was & it was gorgeous, it saves so much money. cut down on bridesmaids etc, i had one, with their dresses try finding ones they could wear agen.
shoes........i got mine from BHS, got some nice cream/white ones in now, mine cost £20!
jewerally.....debenhams, i got my tiara there 2 & didnt cost 2 much either!
discuss if ur guna be havin a photographer, they cost so much money & now days most ppl have digital cameras so what is it reli worth it? i dont know what ur budget is, but we couldnt afford one, le had lucky OH & an army mate had recently done a camera course so he took some photos 4 us.
ask members of family if they could do ne thing? ie do u have a nan good at makin cakes? my nan did my cake, she also did the flowers, which were bought from tescos!
if u want a nice car, ask around, dont jus go 4 the first quote.
whats ur OH guna wear? mine wore his number1s, he had 2 ask tho, so mayb ur oh could do tht?
finally, lol sorry its so long, r u guna be movin into marriage quarters? has ur OH done the forms 4 them? its good 2 get them in as soon as possible! it takes 4ever! lol.
neway, i hope this has been helpfully, if u wana look at the pics of mine there a link 2 them in the gallery on here.

Aww thanks so much girls lol!
My OH is in signals. we're going to try and sort out if he's wearing his number1's aswell.
We're looking at a budget of around 2500-3000, so its not much. Been looking around at venues and such like, found one (which looks stunning) for £350 for the service for round 40 guests. Then the prices for food on top of this, so not too sure about that, the food is what's bumping the prices up.
Been looking into photographers but after the cheapest i can find is £400 i might start thinking about asking a family member to take them.
The car is also going to be a pricey one. Anyone know any good companies in the bristol area?
Going to chat to oh tonight to sort out when he's next going to be home, then we can get the notices out of the way, and start thinking about the dates and venues a bit more.
Any suggestions on keeping costs down would be brill.
Where would i look around for second hand dresses? Thought of ebay but im very short and worry that the dresses wouldn't fit properly! The same goes for bridesmaids, ive got 3, two 4yrs old and my 17 yr old sister.
Argghhhh....just seems like a hectic nightmare at the moment, my mothers not being too supportive either!! Can't wait to actually start enjoying my planning.
Cheers girls

Hey hun, wheres your oh based?
Buy some wedding magazines, they usually have a long list of stuff you need to organise, remember to set a budget aswell!
The girls have given you some fab advice, so all i'll say is ENJOY IT!!
x
You don't need to both give notice in the same place, you have to give your notice in the council area that you live. I was told when i was booking mine that my Husband could give his near where he is based and I could do mine in Sheffield. As soon as that is out of the way it's all fun stuff!!

Yep defo - Nic's right, we're going to give notice next Saturday and are doing it together in our home town, but he could give it at his nearest registry office. You do have to take proof of address and at least one form of ID though so bear that in mind.
Good luck with your plans.
