View Full Version : Wedding Cost
We are thinking of having our wedding begining of next year some time but niether of us have any idea of how much a wedding costs lol, and what things are needed. Basicaly, we want a very small wedding so its personal.
So what thing will we need and price ranges ect.
help! lol
Mine and Lews cost 1500 including dresses, suites and everything.
My mom made my bridesmaid dresses, and my nan made my wedding cake, and my aunt and uncle paid for my wedding car, so i lost a lot of expense there. But it can be done for really cheap. When you start adding in meals etc thats where it gets expensive :)
It depends when where you wanna get married? If you wanna get married in a registry office then thats the cheapest option.
As Guccishoes has said, meals are expensive, so maybe have a buffet? Family and friends can help with it and it will cost next to nothing!

We could easily have done ours for £500-£1000. The main cost is the party you have after a nd how many. Oh and how much you want to spend on outfit. Weddings really really don't have to be expensive if you are willing to compromise xxx
P.S. We ended up spending more, but that's because my mother got involved and insisted on footing the bill!! xxx
We spent a bloody fortune lol - but most of that was like what the others said on meals & venue.
Alot of my friends have got married for much less & there days were as fabulous as mine & certainly didnt miss out on anything. (Just dont tell my hubby I just said that - he is still having sleepless nights over what we spent lol!)
Just start with a figure that you know you can afford (or spend if others are contributing) & go bargain hunting!!!
A wedding is also a personal thing, so make sure that its the day that you want - dont feel pressured into having what you think everyone else wants!
Good luck with the planning - it is one of the best bits pulling it all together.
ENJOY xxxx

Woo I'm suprised by how cheap they can be, for some reason I thought everything would be much more expensive.
I'll be making mine wedding dress so that'll save loads and my 1 bridesmaid dress :) so that'll save money, we dont want a church wedding as niether of us are religous. We were thinking maybe outside somewhere. We'll have a party after but nothing big. Ooooo I can't wait. going to start drawing dress designs soon, yeh i know its early lol.Was thinking red or purple dress :D
Ours cost £15000 but it was quite a big wedding, and we had been saving a few years too!
The main thing is just shop round for stuff on net etc also you could just have a buffet in the early evening if you got married in the afternoon instead of having a sit down meal, ask some one thats got a nice car to drive you to venue, if you know anyone who does cakes ask them to do it, my gran make main as she just to make the in her younger years lol but saved us alot!
ours is costing about 10,000
it will all depend on how many people are going as well hun, as meals and toast are usually per person. the most expensive thing is the food for the two buffets and 2 toasts per person and we are having a approx of 110 people so far.
also the rooms we are having are about 250 each and they are just next door to eachother in the same bloody building lol.
you should have a look around at different places and see what their prices are most venues will send you a pack if you email them and they should tell you the prices of meals, entertainment, etc
Including the honeymoon our is costing about £11,000 without its about £9,500, and we are having a church wedding for 80 people with sit down meal and then a recpetion with buffet for 120 people. x
I got married last year and probably spent (not including honeymoon) between 5-6K This was for a civil ceremony wedding at our reception venue, a 4 course meal for 80 guests, evening buffet of wedges and sausage/bacon rolls again for 80 guests and a £500 drink/wine tab.
We cut costs by getting married in the winter months (out of season) and also later in the day. By doing this the venue was much more accomodating to our requests ie. they waived the minimum numbers, they allowed us not to have a full buffet on the evening with marrying/eating so late etc.
wow i think mines the cheapest! it cost us £1100.
we had a register office do & a sit down 3course meal in a hotel for 30 people & we were given a seperate room 2 party in afterwards.
we didnt have a honeymoon cos OH didnt get the week off til the last min, but we're goin away in his summer leave x
Ours come to about 4k everything wedding related included.
This is all so frustrating, I cant start organising and planning until we get a date :(
Hi Hun,
Our wedding cost a total of £12k and this included our honeymoon to Kenya which was just over £2k. We got married at 3.30pm to try and reduce costs so we had a sit down bbq instead of a sit down meal and this cost £10pp, we had this for both our day and evening guests so we didnt have to pay for a buffett either, oh and we didnt have wine on the tables so that saved us loads.
Idea of things you need and how much they cost us;
Dress/Shoes/Underwear/tiara etc (all of this came to approx cost of £1000
Invites (shop around for these, we got ours from the ace cat)
Bridemaids dresses/shoes/Best Man etc suits (if you can get them to pay for their own this will save you loads £400, we had 2 bridesmaids, 1 maid of honour and 1 best man, my brother who was an usher and my dad paid for their own suits at a cost of £100 each)
Cake £300
table decs (we had candles from ikea £100)
chair covers (£300)
disco/entertainment £250
church/castle/hotel for wedding £600 including registar etc
venue for evening do (free to hire venue but food cost £600 ish)
cars £1000
Gifts £200
Flowers £300
What will your hubby to be wear? Mine wore his number 1s but had to buy these at a cost of £500 including his george boots.
These are just a few ideas.
Ours is looking at being around the £10,000 mark.
That's with cars, outfits, entertainment, photographer & videographer, meals etc....
We're getting married in a church and then we've got a 3 course meal and drinks for 70 people at a hotel, then the evening reception and buffet for 140.
I'm aiming to get my entire outfit inc hair/make-up/shoes etc for under £1000 but how realistic that is I don't know yet, I know my dress will be around £600.
My dad will be paying for our honeymoon so that's not included.
