View Full Version : What does the Dress Uniform look like?
Hi,
Im getting married in a few years time and my h2b is in the army (KRH based at Tidworth) was wondering what are the basic colours of the uniform im trying to pick a colour scheme:)

ummm all i know is it depends on the regiment and the rank. my oh is a 2nd lt in the royal engineers so his is blue red and gold. sorry cant be more help hun xxxxxx
which uniform you talking about??? my oh has got number 1s which i havent seen, number 2's which are green and then mess dress which he wore for the wedding which are navy and red. the styles vary depending on reg etc. i've attached a pic of my oh's mess dress xxx
What most would wear for a wedding is number ones, the most formal type. But it does vary from regiment to regiment. For example, my ohs (REME) is a dark blue longer jacket with the belt worn over the top and gold buttons, insignia etc. Trousers are the same as with mess kit, i.e. dark blue with red stripes down the side.
Mess kit is the equivalent of black tie, and usually has one of those very short jackets. A lot of the jackets are red but my OHs is dark blue over a red waistcoat.
Number 2s as Emzy says are usually green - a plain khaki green. But it would be unusual to wear this for a wedding as it is for sombre occasions such as funerals and courts martial. It's what they wear on remembrance day.
You will just have to ask him, really!
well my oh is wearing his number 1s for our wedding which is blue with a yellow strip on the pants, with white gloves. as he and his guard of honors are all in blue, our theme is blue and white.
My yummy hubby wore number 1's for our wedding, then mess dress in the evening - I have attached a photo of him in his 1's (hopefully it will work) so you can see....

Forgot to mention our colour scheme was ivory & burgandy, didnt like the red on his uniform so went for burgandy. didnt realise until the day that he was wearing his para beret (he is reme so normally wears the same colour beret as where he is posted) & his beret matched my colour scheme perfectly! Everyone thought I had planned it lol x

My hubby wore his Summer mess dress because we got married in Cyprus. It's black trousers with a red stripe and a white shirt and a white jacket.
Oh my god all this wedding talk has got me wanting to get married lol. Although I think I will panic when coming to fit his uniform around my plans lol. I know how I want it all to look and I will have it very classic with pinks and creams very fairytale. My oh is in reme how do I fit red into the color scheme oh well I aint even engaged yet better stop stressing lol.
sometimes we cant help but think ahead, espcially with weddings. i had mine all planned out from 11. then when it came to the point of booking the wedding and planning i didnt do anything that i had planned, apart from the dress.
lol. I am so sad I have a folder of all my ideas broke up into catagories. I know it will be done exactly like that lol. I go a little crazy a wedding talk lol. I am just way too girly and go all gooey lol
