View Full Version : Wedding finances...
Without trying to pry into your money matters, how much are you spending / have you spent on your wedding?
I've done some (very sketchy) preliminary calculations and it seems like I'm looking at around £22,000! Which hopefully shouldn't be too much of a problem as we're not getting married for at least a couple of years, but it still looks like a scary figure.
mine is costing £10-11, 000.
things are paid for bit by bit normally, so if you should be ok hun. its nice to splash out a great wedding :D
We spent just over £13k on ours last year and didnt have to go without anything! Most of that went on the venue. As long as you can afford hun - go for making the best day you can - there are plenty of bargains out there too!

we spent about 10k on our wedding. and it was amazing!!! £22,000 is alot of money so you should be able to get ur dream wedding for that no problem. xxx :D
Ours will cost around £10,000 not including the honeymoon.
Are you having lots of people there? x
I'm still coming to terms with spending that much money when we could use it as a deposit for a house or something instead...
But I want pretty sparkly things! And they're all expensive! Argh!

I'm not sure how many people there will be - I don't have many more than 50 on my list but OH has a HUGE family so his list will probably be bigger.
I think it's mainly things like me wanting a sushi buffet and OH wants to hire a Lamborghini for the wedding car (!). Plus a lot of the nicer venues around where we live seem to be quite pricey.
Still, it's early days yet, I'll probably change my mind about everything in a few months!
xx
Haha how random! Im having a lamborghini for my wedding car!
The company have already said when I set my date its mine :D

We are getting married next summer. about 60 to the day do and another 60-100 in the evening, all in all its costing about £25,000 not including the honeymoon or my dress. But it does include the money for my wedding ring, which is costing a small fortune!
But there are loads of ways to keep the costs down, lots of stuff we thought was going to cost a fortune, aren't costing too much, flowers can be a lot less than you think, speak to your florist about ways to cut costs...
And I'm sure your buying all the wedding mags but they have great ways to save cash and still have a stunning day! xx
Wow some of you are spending soooooo much money on your weddings!!! We are getting married in an exclusive use castle in Scotland for 3 days with 50 guests, we are having loads of extras like clay pigeon shooting and a falcon delivering the rings and nothing has been missed out or forgotten and nobody will go hungry or bored but our estimate on costs not including the honeymoon is coming in at roughly £9k. I bought my dress in a sample sale and it is a one off dress that should have cost £1200 but instead cost £250 so with a little shopping about there are some amazing bargains to be had!!!! I have splashed out on other things that are important to the two of us like rings but honestly shop shop shop and haggle on prices or ask for extras to be included in the price to get more for your money!!!!!
Wow Claire!!!
That sounds amazing!!

Wow, I'd love to have the rings bird-delivered! How cool...
I think one of the reasons mine will be pretty expensive is that I live in one of the most expensive parts of the country outside London and so venues/catering etc tend to cost a lot more round here - I had a look at places near where my parents live in Somerset and some of them are much nicer and a lot cheaper! So it may be a case of having a faraway wedding to save on pennies hahaha

Yes there is a lot to be said for living up north and when you get into Scotland it costs even less again!!!! We did look at places around Chester cos thats where OH is based but we had our hearts set on a castle and it was so much more expensive down there!!!!! You have to be really cheeky and ask for extras cos they never offer them but with a bit of haggling you can normally manage to get near to what you want!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
We spent in total around 7-8 grand including a 2 grand honeymoon xxx
We've calculated at bout 10 grand which includes honeymoon. The venue is the biggest cost cos of the amount of people you will be feeding. We have found a bargain luckily. You can get some good discounts if you get married in Autumn or Winter. xxx
