im getting so annoyed about the wedding reception at the moment and nothing else. it is driving me mad!!.

im getting married to my oh in march so it will probably be a bit cold outside so we cant have the reception outside otherwise everyone will get cold. so we are looking for somewhere inside. but we cant really find anywhere we like that is easy for both our families to get too. we have about 8 month before we get married but i would like everything neary sorted out before he goes away in august. so not long really. i want it to be a joint decision for the reception. so much pressure!!!

sorry i have babbled on a bit there!! sorry.

oh i remember that pressure very well. i too wanted things to be planned by both me and oh. he left in april and most of the wedding was sorted in december.

where ever you decide to have it am sure family will travel to it, its your big day! you should have a look at venues on the internet and email them asking for a broshure then you can both look at them and see which place you both prefer.

Ah thats a nightmare, try requesting loads of brochures thats what I am currently doing.

Also type.... "Wedding reception in *** your area ***" into google and I guarantee you'll get plenty of ideas :)

Best of luck!

try looking on www.hitched.co.uk (or .com, cant remember!)
you'll have to register but its all free. They have a HUGE list of venues in different counties, all different types - im sure you'll find a few good possible places.
then contact them and ask for brochures and available dates - its so exciting when they all arrive in the post!! and if you go for a hotel, they will give your guests discounted rates - so nobody can moan at travelling :)

thank you. the only problem is that if we go to a hotel the buffet they offer isnt very good if you ask me. so i thought maybe we could take our own food. do you think they would do that?

most hotels would let you pick what items you would want in your buffet so you'd be able to have what you want.
id be very surprised if they let you do your own catering - if this is what you want to do, then you need to look at hiring a hall/function room rather than a typical wedding venue, might be a lot cheaper too :)

the only problem with that is we are getting married on a friday and most halls might be already booked with things such as dress classes or other meetings like that!
