I just wanted to tell you girls what is going on with me and my oh. Well as you know we have had our fair share of ups and downs. Well we sorted everything out and now we get on better than ever.
Well he asked me if I will move to be with him in Germany when he finishes tour and after his leave. I have thought well why not. I am going for it. I love him loads and I think we can really make a go of things in Germany.
Well as you all know you have to be married to live together. We are not engaged but the only reason for this is because we went to Paris and I spent all his savings oops lol.
Well when he comes home on his r n r I know he will propose. It is set for us hopefully to get married in March time when he finishes tour then me move.
Thats why I showed you that dress I have fell in love with. Why I have asked about uniform etc. I would love a vintage theme. SOmething very classic and very cheap lol.
I am off to see a church tomorrow and a reception venue too.
My only problem is none of my family like him and wont support this at all. Neither do my friends. I have the odd few that do. I am not even sure if many would show up. What would you guys do for a reception for those that do come? I am totally puzzled. I still want my first dance a cake etc. Please help me.
First off, congratulations! I know I may have given you a hard time about your oh in previous threads, but it's only because I hate for people to get hurt... but you sound sure about this and you are following your heart, so good on you!
Secondly I would tell your family and friends that you know they don't approve, but this is what you want and you are going to do it with or without their support BUT it would mean the world to you if they would be there to share your happiness on your big day. They may be reluctant at first but I'm sure most of them will come round. Especially if your oh makes a special effort with them xxx
My oh has given up. He knows that he will never please them. I know how everyone has been god. Things can get so messy. I just wish things were like those rom coms I watch so much.
Thank you. Yeah I have my heart set on going, it will be good for me and Amelie not just as a family but personally. I know I will gain a lot more confidence and learn a lot from new a culture.
Congrats huni.... try not to worry about what everyone thinks or say's chick! At the end of the day it's you who has to live your life and you just have to try to make the most of it - which ever way makes you happy!
I'm in a similar situation with my family to be honest... I get married to OH in 2 weeks time and because of how unsupportive (and down right nasty) my family are I have decided to have a really intimate wedding. It's literally just going to be me, OH and our two best friends as witnesses! It isn't what I always dreamt my wedding day would be but in all truthfulness it makes it all the more special for me... it's not just about keeping everyone happy for a day afterall - it's about us as a couple commiting our lives to each other!
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is don't beat yourself up about the whole family thing and more importantly don't beat yourself up for venting on here about your OH - at the end of the day we all can say things that we don't mean when were angry...

Thank you so much for that. Thats exactly how I have been feeling. I am sick of pleasing others and not myself. I have realised just how precious life is and how I must live it how I feel best for me and my daughter. Once more thank you, you made me :D

Thank you, I know moving to Germany will be a HUGE change but if I decide Germany isnt for me then we can always try get a uk posting or I love back till he cant get to the uk. At least then I have tried it and there is no regrets.

Defo hun, thats how I see it when it comes to my Cyprus move... or if Germany isn't for you then you could always try to make OH get a posting to Cyprus :D :rolleyes: :D lol

lol. My friend is currently in Cyprus, she is moving back to the uk next year though which she is gutted about. She loves cyprus.
