View Full Version : Hi!
Hi Everyone,
I stumbled across this site and am so happy.
Just a quick run down of who we are for you, Im Liz and my partner is Adam and we have a 1 year old daughter Alice and another on the way in Feb next year :o)
Adam is applying to join the signals as a Communications Operator and has an interview tomorrow where they said if he does well they will tell him the dates for his 2 day selecion.
I have a few questions still which Im not sure if people might be able to help with though! We're not married yet but are planning to be before he leaves for his training. I know we wont be able to live together while he does his initial training (14 weeks) but does anyone know if we will be able to see each other or if he will be able to make phonecalls/use computer much?
And also then it says he would do 28 weeks phase 2 training at Blandford Forum in Dorest and I have no idea if we will all be able to live together then or not?
Hope someone can help and sorry for the questions!

hey hunni
welcome to wags.
good luck for OH interview. hope it all goes ok.
sorry cant answer your questions about living together during training as my OH had already been through training and had his first posting before i met him, im sure some of the other girls will be able to answer tho. i completed navy basic training myself and found that on an evening i could use my mobile a lot, dont know if this is the same for the army though.

Welcome darlin!
In terms of his training, i think its pretty intense at first, so maybe be a good few weeks of not being able to see him, then eventually i presume they are allowed to come home for a couple of weekends ..
Theres plenty of girls who have just been thru training with their fella's so they prob know more. In terms of living together, you will only be offered a house if your married, but it doesnt stop you moving closer to where he trains, i just dont no how often he will be able to come home as the army like to prepare them for how the army is once ur established as a soldier ... as they go away alot, so need to be trained to cope with the distance and times away.
Hope this helps!! x x x
welcome hun! sorry cant help with your questions but i am sure some of the other ladys will be able too
hey hun welcome to wags!! In regaurds to living together while he is in training you cant but as soon as its completed and providing your married you will be entitled to married quaters wherever he will be based. Your oh should be able to phone you when he has free time but be warned at the beginning he will be very very tired!!! lol Hope this answers some of your questions xxxx
H Everyone, thanks so much for all the replys :) its gona be so hard not living together for nearly a year :( but it is reassuring that he could call and hopefully it might fit in with our house contract to move nearer once he's at his phase 2 training hadn't even thought of that!

Hey hun and welcome to WAGS. Congrats on your lil bean.
I think in phase 1 they can ring everynight, well my brother usually managed a quick call and if he has a laptop he'll be able to go on that, but if not then depends if other people on them or not. Also hubby says during phase 2 he wouldnt be able to go off camp, but they get quite abit of time off.
