View Full Version : argh possible change of plan
right im sooooo confused now! turns out the seychelles is really expensie (one of the most expensive places abroad to get married). went to the travel agents today to get prices and stuff and see how much we need to sve roughly, the rest may have to go on credit cards etc. i was dead set on the seychelles but the price is kinda putting me off and one lady i spoke to said she booked a couple a holiday in the seychelles and they didnt like it cos there was dogs on he beach and it wasnt what they had imagined. well this is my wedding so i want it to be exactly like the pictures and exactly how i imagine if not better. so ihave lots of brochure to look through tonight with OH so will be bak with an update and more possibilities later. i need some help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
have planned to go dress tryin on with one of my oldest friends next weekend who i havent seen for ages so that should be nice. i amhowever thinkin i may just try on the styles that i like and find a pic on the internet to send to one of those companies who make the dress at a fraction of the price.
i am at the very beginning of the planning stage here soanyadvice will be great.
sorry for the ramblngs girls i just know if anyone can help its you lot
Oh no :( I know you were set on there boooooo to dogs on the beach.
Is there anywhere else you would want to go to? Somewhere similar but without the huge costs and dogs?
YAY to dress trying whoohoo.
Set a date?
haha I have a million questions for you haha
i dont know if it would be even more expensive or not, but try the Maldives.
my friend went there for two weeks, cost around 700 i think all inclusive, she said it was amazing!!!!!!
the beaches were secluded, no one around, complete luxury. now THAT is the place of picture perfect postcards :D

well mauritius is close by and they do all inclusive for around about the same price as the seychelles, that was another problem with the seychelles there was no all inclusives it was all bed and breakfast. found he barbados page too which ooks nice so will investigate there too.
no not set a date yet, got the brochurs to find out a rough cost to try and enable us to save around about the right amount of money. will have a better idea to set a date once we open our money tn and see how much we have in it. get christmas out the way and its saving overdrive
go on hun bombard me with your questions cos its likely that theres things i havent even thought about that you will ask me about so in the long run people askin me loads of questions will probably help.

now that sound good. £700  i would be over the moon with that cos what we're havin to do is pick the place and wedding package we want then the stay is just like a normal holiday that you book to overlap the wedding package if that makes sense.
would you mind askin your friend where abouts she went then maybe i could look up the hotel and see if they do wedding packages. mind you even if they dont at £700 all inclusive i wouldn't mind leavin the hotel complex for the wedding
My god 700 all inclusive tell me who they booked through I am off there lol. I have just been quoted that for the Canaries last min.
Gem you will get it all sorted I am sure. Just get looking at dates them make sure you set that date. You told me you were gonna when he was home so I am making sure you stick to it haha. I need to book my flights ;) hehe.
i know we dont live millions of miles apart but its a shame we dont live closer sheryl you'd be able to come round and keep giving me a kick lol
think im gnna set a couple of direct debits up this week to go from my bank account to my savings account so that hopefully it will mount up quicker. was thinkinabout changin my bnk account though to that llyods TSB one where when you ue your debit card they round it up to the nearest pound and the differnce goes into your savings.
I agree it wuld be fab. Not the kicking part though haha.
I think we should meet up and maybe have a pamper night I think we both deserve it haha.
That sounds like a good idea with the direct debits. If you dont act nothing will ever happen. I always find that.
thta sounds like fun. sittin there painting our nails flickin through wedding mags. bliss!
right gonna get my pick and mix and my pile of brochures and go plonk myself next to OH and totally blag his head til i decide wich island we should get married on lol. will let ya know if i make any progress

yay good. Now get going then we can plan our pamper weekend hehe
im back after hours of discussing, nearly an argument, endless texts to family (only to get no straight answers) and a chillaxing bath.
seychelles was expensive and the dogs on the beach had already put me off so we just had a quick look at that but have kinda dismissed it now. i lookes up the maldives as someone (cant remember who - sorry my head is totally blagged tonight) had suggested but they didnt seem to have any wedding packages just renewal of vows packages so that kinda ruled itself out so then we stopped on mauritius. seems lovely from the pics, white sandy beaches, clear blue water, sunshine, lovely hotel with massive gorgeous gardens so im gonna go to travel agents on monday and hopefully it will be as good as the brochure makes out, make sure everything we need is included on the paper work/legal side of things so fingers crossed i wont have my hopes smashed to pieces.
one major hurdle crossed i now need to find a venue to hold a reception when we get back for all the family who wont be coming out with us
just thought sheryl we could maybe look at a few venues for the reception when you come to visit, have a coffe in them see what kinda feelin we get about the places lol. that idea has just struck me like lightning lol
Oh I am totally up for that
