View Full Version : dress hunt

Gemzy
,
well i arranged with a friend who i haven't seen for ages today that we would go dress hunting next weekend but im very nervous about it all!

i have put on weight since OH got back from kenya and also have some swelling in my tummy (caused by my endometriosis) so i intend to loose a bit of weight before i get married, not a lot maybe 10lbs and hopefully after my op to remove yet another lump my swelling will go and i am sooooo hoping that i dont develop any more (wont hold my breath though this is my second op in 6 months). i really want to find THE dress but i know its gonna have to be something that im able to have altered closer to the time, can all dresses be taken in?

also i always think that when you go into wedding shops they're a bit snotty and stuff so im slightly on edge there. are they nice once you get in there and get their attention?

do bridal shops usally stock short wedding dresses suitable for beach weddings?

sorry about so many questions

Dont think I can be much help hun - although sounds very exciting :D

I think most bridal shops stock a variety including those suitable for beach weddings and yes some can be a little snooty but most are very friendly and will bemd over backwards to help you find your perfect dress

Good luck finding it hun

hey hunni,

most shops do dresses for all types of weddings, mine asked what kind of wedding it was before i even tryed on dresses. They do tend to be a bit snooty but once your in there and they've realised your looking at THEIR dresses for YOU then they tend to calm down and do whatever they can to help you.

Most dresses can be taken in as well. If you choose one without to much 'bling' going on around the bodice then they can normally help you out a bit more (for example; last minute changes.) The seamstress should explain all of this to you anyway, just so you know whats going on. The fittings tend to be closer to the wedding rather then earlier because like you said, body shapes are going to change for one reason or another.

I hope your op goes ok and u get the outcome you want. I know how hard it is sometimes when things arn't fixed the first time around. Fingers crossed for you hun.

right well as i've been a very bad wag and neglected you all for a while which i am very sory about, i thought i'd come and share my excitement with you. I BOUGHT MY DRESS! yes i bought it!

i went shopping as planned with my friend, i didnt have buying in mind just a girly day out and a little look but i ended up bringing it home. i still cant quite believe it!

after all i said about i didnt want a big full length dress i better eat my words cos its full length with a train, and i just fell for it.

its meant to be a size 16 but quite clearly isnt! (im a size 8-10) but it has plenty of space for alterations which is no problem cos i have a fab friend at work who's sister does alterations.

you wouldnt believe how much i paid for it either! it was meant to be £620.00 any guesses on how much i got it for?
