View Full Version : Presents for the in-laws?
Do you buy them presents? If so how much do you spend and what sort of things have you bought in the past?
this is the first year that i feel i know connors parents well enough to buy them nice things that they might actually want rather than neutral gifts such as scented candles etc (we have been together 3 years but i rarely see his folks as they live in n.ireland).
i have been shopping online tonight, think im going to get his dad some dvds and a couple of jokey gifts and was going to get his mum some jewellry - having more trouble trying to decide what to get his bro and sis and their oh's!
soooooo what are you views on shopping for the in-laws??? xxxxxxxxxxxx

well Ben only has his dad and his sister, last year we got her some jewelry and got his dad a george foreman. this year we've got his sister a digital photo frame but still dont know what to get his dad, he's so hard to buy for lol xxx
OH buys for his dad, he doesnt buy a present for his mum. He usually gets him a DVD or a war book. I buy for mine and he buys for his as its easier that way.
Lat year his dad bought me a cheese grater!!!!!!! Bet he gets me a flippin ironing board cover or something this year!!

As the in-laws are in Sth Africa, I have made a photo book online for them with all our pics from our wedding in Aug. Its just something small but I know they will like it as they are far away and dont get to see us often. (Also easy to post hehe :))
i buy for his mum every year, i have just getting to know his dad alot better this year as we didnt use to see him that much but we have spent more time with him this year and are having xmas dinner at his so it will be nice to get him and his wife something.
this year i am getting my parents, his mum and fiance and his dad and wife all the same. i am going to get a picture of them and put it on a canvas in pop art. oh thinks its a cool idea.
yeh we get the in laws too, normally do joint presents. year we made hampers for my parents and his. We got tickets for the bbc good food show and got alot of the fillers from there :)

Awh that hamper idea is lovely! Last year Kev was in Afghanistan & I didn't see his parents, but this year we're spending Crimbo at his house. His mum and dad have said they don't want me to spend money on them as I'm a skint student and got Kev's birthday beginning of January. But I don't like going empty-handed so when I go round on Xmas evening I'm taking some home-baked muffins and cookies wrapped up in tissue paper in a little box :)
