View Full Version : Where do you start?!?
How on earth do you even begin to plan a wedding?!?
Me and the oh have decided that we're going to tie the knot feb 2012 and have decided on stirling, but that about as far as we've got. I feel there is no rush to do lots of planning now, but people keep scaring me saying 'things book up dead quickly' blah blah blah.
starting to feel dead overwhelmed!
So, how did the rest of you start planning your weddings? what did you book first? i have some ideas of what i want, but im trying not to get ahead of myself and start focussing on little things and forgetting all the big important stuff! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
DOn't panic..
We booked all of ours within 5 weeks and had an absolutely gorgeous day...even got discounts because of the short notice and people were really happy to have the trade when they were expecting to not be working!
I would say though, get your venue booked, then everything else can be sorted from then on. But you do have a long time so don't worry too much...
How flipping exciting for you eeeeeeeeeeekkk!!

i am excited now :) but its taken a couple of weeks to sink in so im only just starting to think about it properly now and realise the hugeness of whats going on :)
hoping to decide on a venue for sure in the next 2 months, but without being sure on our budget im scared to fall in love with somewhere that we just cant afford! :S xxxx
congratulations xx
we planned our wedding from engagement to big day in 10 months (7 months from when we chose a date)
1st off, sort out a budget, and decide what sort of ceremony you want.
then get the venues researched and booked for both ceremony and venue. most of it after that can wait for a while, but they're the main ones to sort out initially
xx
Lol i know where I'd start.......Las Vegas!!
I have not got the time or the inclination to being to start my wedding prep so we've seriously been thinking of just hotfooting it to a far away destination with a few family and friends in toe and doing it that way.
Otherwise i can't see myself ever having the time to actually plan a wedding! I have to make an appointment with myself every time i want to go for a crap, i'm that busy!
we started with the guest list and then found the venue and booked it, coz we booked it on a thursday and its in 2011 we got a huge discount..was gonna cost us 11000 now its 8000 lol :D we had to do the list first tho coz i have a hugee family so had to organise numbers. i also found my dress within the first few weeks lol. Id say numbers and venue first :)
i know it sounds sad but write a list of everything you want/need for the wedding cross offf as you do it!
r u having it in sheff xx

ooh hun i wish i could be like you, but im a natural flapper and would just be going schizo if i left it for another year!
we have made progress tho!!!! we are going up to stirling on valentines weekend to have a look at a shortlist of venues and will HOPEFULLY find the place for our reception so we can go ahead and book it :D xxxxxxx
Hey hun,
Firstly congratulations!
Bit late on this one - we started our wedding planning although we've since got married in Barbados!
We booked the church first to check the date was free then worked the venue around it although we did book out first choice.
After that I bought a wedding planning folder and was happily filling that whilst OH was in Afghan - until we decided we didn't want to wait and arranged our wedding in Barbados in pretty much one afternoon!
Good luck
xx
