Hey girls,
I am completely new to this.
My OH left yesterday for his 9 weeks training, it's only the 1st day but Im a total mess how are you brave girlies cope with this.

in answer to how do we cope...... we have to! we have no choice!
the first days always the worst, well the first week or so actually but it does get better. you'll always have your up and down days (im having a down day today) but you've just gotta be strong.
get yourself into an every day routine and that will help the time pass quicker (well i find it does anyway)
if your mans back in 9 weeks then thats about the same time as my mans due home too so we can count down together :) mines been gone a month now and im missing him like mad but you've just gotta think its not forever and think about all the fun stuff you can do when he comes home!! the first time you see him when he comes home will be amazing!!!!!

Yeah I'm trying to keep myself busy, now is so the time to burn the weight gained over Christmas (although the biscuit and chocolate comfort eating sessions arent helping ha ha).
Its so great to have this support system.
He's just basic training at the mo, but aims to go onto the Subs as an engineer!!
I am so proud of him for doing this!!

I much agree with what the girls have said, we dont cope with it.....but we have to learn to deal with it.
We normally take on our partners knowing what they want to do in life if they havent already joined the forces, and learn to support them. As long as you have pride, and love him then thats enough to pull you through. And us ofcourse :P
Further to your question, my partners in the navy, royal marines. Currnetly we are based in Scotland but have a move scedualed in may to yeovilton :)

Its always hard when they go away, im always a right mess when my OH goes away. I always find the first week or 2 the hardest but then i get back into my routine again.
Just keep yourself busy and countdown to you get your man home again, all of the wait will be worth it when you see eachother for the first time, it really is special.

I kind of stop crying for a bit but as soon as go home, empty flat no pants or socks on the floor I start to well up!!!!
He's in sunny Plymouth at the moment!
Finding my routine hard, we have just moved in together (but while he's gone I can clear some crap I dont like) and we have been together for 4 years so it's really strange!!
I think he was fed up with what he was doing and constant shortage of work, so he decided to give this ago!!!
It's great to be able to talk through this with someone who understands, as amazing as my friends and family are they dont really know what it's all about!

thats how i was aswell hun, as soon as i got home from work i would get upset and sit in tears. Id just sit in my room an look around in a daze thinking how weird it was him not being there, it was like i was lost. You will find it tough at the mo but after some time you will learn to deal with it and you will find things to do to keep yourself occupied.
We are always here for ya aswell, i remember when i 1st joined i was a state lol, look back at some of my threads from when i 1st joined.
This was the best thing i ever did joining this as it really does help and it gets you through the tough times x x x x
where do you stay hun? i move down plymouth way in may :)
haha but when hes back its back to square one with the socks and boxers....the bread crumbs left opn the bunker....and the dishes undone :P

I'm Niki, been with hubby for 3 years in April, married a year in March and we've been in Germany since last April. Hubby has been in Army for 9 years but had 2 and a half years out, decided to rejoin in 2008 :rolleyes:
Its hard but you get used to it, just keep busy and get a hobby lol

if he's doing training i dont think there are really any set hours...when OH was in training they basically just worked him into the ground! it is normal not to hear from them when we think we will, be prepared for this! nothing is ever a definate with the army so keep this in mind! its not always practical but you will get used to it!
