This is why im annoyed - hes already spoken to the sargent and explained why he had to leave - hes actually being discharged today andway hes being kicked out for fighting so why has he still got to be there????? Hes already had to miss our babys scan - (which he had booked off as compassionate leave ) as the C.O wanted to see him. Im so angry why cant they just let him come home!

unfortunately, if they do things like that, then his CO will kind of punish him for it. it doesn't matter what he has going on, they will give payback for whatever reason. i hope u can get it sorted. is there any other way of changing the appointment. but im guessing u have only got a time limit on doing this though

sorry hun i cant find the number, is he on his way home then? has he not told anyone where he's going? has he not got a number of anyone you can contact to explain, he must have the number for his guard room surely?

dont worry the police wont be after him if he's disappeared for a few hours, he'll probably just get a beasting from his CO. the police would only want him if he's gone AWOL, and i dont think a few hours would count as going AWOL really. as long as he goes back straight after. he should have explained to someone and told them he had to go.

sorry i'm not much help x

ah sorry, didnt see this post before my reply. well if he's being discharged i dont see what the problem is. what time is he supposed to be there til? still i dont think he'll get into that much trouble for just a few hours. my hubbi went AWOL when he was a lot younger (before i met him) and went to spain with his mate and stayed there for 2 weeks. they didnt get into that much trouble considering. x

That all sounds very complex.....I would have thought though that if your OH is still on the Army's books today they can keep him until they choose to let him go. Clearing it with the Sgt is one thing but if a person higher up in his chain of command has recinded it then unfortunately the Sgt is outranked

It sucks the Army sucks in general but the more important something appears to be to someone the more it is open to getting messed about.

It depends who it is that is making the decision but I would suggest that you getting involved may make matters worse....I speak from experience.

As awful as it sounds this is down to your OH to sort out!

just a quick update...hes at home - he said he has signed all his paperwork and its all been filled in by the sargent so he is now classed as a civillian - surely they cant arrest him now? He said the only reason they have been ringing him is because they wanted to march him off camp and he didnt bother waiting around for that and just drove off.. I havent heard back from the guard room btw....

I doubt they can arrest him now if he is classed as a civilian but driving off camp without being marched out really isnt the smartest thing to do...

His time wih the Army will go on his future employment record so it wont look very good if he doesnt play by the rules....

If its RMP they have full powers of arrest so in theory can arrest a civilian.

Its only RAF Police that don't have full Police powers.

But as Carla says somethings are more important than others and on the scale of things it was a stupid thing to do.
