View Full Version : Did you/have you managed to keep to your wedding budget?
I have been really c0cky saying I was getting a wedding for under £5000, I thought we had managed to do it on about £4000. Well my mum and I actually sat down and counted everything we have paid for so far and what is left to do and have found it's actually coming closer to £7000 oops :/ I duno quite how I thought I could stick to a budget without actually setting out a budget lol........so I've finally written out a list of what's needed and set a maximum budget of what to spend on the last things so the costs don't spiral out any more...just duno why I didn't do it sooner lol. I'm pleased with everything we've got though, the reception in particular has been a bargain so I don't regret anything we've bought.....it's just been a bit of a shock!
So did you ladies set a budget and stick to it? Or did you go way over? xxx

,
thats exactly what our budget was £5000 but adding everything up ours will be about £7000, £8000 tops x x x x x
We've not set a budget so i have no idea as to what we've spent. I've not even totalled anything up. I'll know when we have to re-mortgage, that we've spent too much lol!

no :( and im really struggling not to go completely over the budget.
we originally said we were going to try and keep it to 10,000, but then realised that we would be able to save more and wanted to splash out on a few things so raised the budget to 14,000 and im really finding it hard to keep it at that.
i based a lot of my costs on what i read in magasines and i have been shopping around to try and get decent deals, but having an august wedding is rubbish cos everyone just up's their prices. i have had some slight discounts cos we're having a weekday wedding but not many
I have done badly - our budget was £20,000 and it has now already gone up to £25,000! i just keep finding things to add on the bill! Got to be special though eh? xx
Ours is creeping up slightly but it better not get any higher. We ideally wanted to do it for £12,000 but the venue we have now chosen alone costs £5,000 to hire so its pushed our budget up to £14,200. I have a feeling it may go up as far as £15,000 but no higher. I'm pretty confident about that as I have done a very detailed budget and have priced up everything that we need already quite accurately so shouldn't be any nasty surprises going forward, I hope anyway!

oh dear lol. we went over our budget. we were aiming for about £8000 or so we spent about £10,000 in the end. but that doesnt include my dress that my mum bought, cars that my dad paid for and the bridesmaid dresses that my dad paid for. if it wasnt for them we'd have been a bit screwed lol x
We never had a budget for ours! Hubby wasnt here though the whole time after we set the date till a week before the wedding so I had no distractions!!! Our wedding ended up costing less then £1500 inc everything. The more I think about it, the more I think its probably a lot less then that!!! lol xx
We kind of had a budget and we didnt go over it. I had been saving for about a year and a half before we got married so we had quite a bit saved. I think our whole wedding came to about £3000 maybe a bit less. It was a small wedding but it was absoultly lovely.
