Just wanted to say Hi to everyone:)
I'm the proud girlfriend of an Army guy who I like to say I bought on ebay... (internet dating just doest have the same ring to it lol) I wasn't intending on falling for a forces gentleman but after chatting to him online, him disappearing to Afganistan last October, then emailing everyday for 3 months I discovered that I very much liked him...we met up just before New year...had a 26 hour date and the rest of this year is why I have a big smile most days.
The reason I joined this site is because sometimes the other days are hard.
And it seems like only other people in the same situation can understand...my friends constantly say they dont know how i do it (he curently lives 200ish miles away) or why....so i hope someone can back me up and let me know its worth all the effort:)

Army guys are always worth it... nearly lol. My bloke is a royal engineer and he works an hour and a half away so I only really see him, if I'm lucky on the weekend.
Trust me though if he turns out to be the one being with a soldier it isn't ever easy but it's so satisfying when they come home to you. It's a really strong bond and a really strong love.

Aw thank you for the replies.....its been an odd 10 months but i think im kind of getting used to things now, I think the hardest thing has been all the times when he's meant to have come home and army have made him work into the night and ive been waiting, all excited, thinking he must just be travelling home. They're the times a friend who gets stuff would be lovely...

I'm with Clare, by FAR the most annoying thing is having people say "it must be so tough" or "i don't know how you do it"....er yeah, cheers for that, like i wasn't already struggling with it, you reminding me has made is soooooo much easier :)
I don't think people know what to say sometimes though, and in trying to help or be friendly, they say the most ridiculous things.
This site has been a lifeline to me over my better halfs tour, and even before he went out. Don't be shy, get stuck in :) xxx

He's in the Signals and hes based about 200 miles away down sarf!! Its his birthday next week and he cant get home so ive made him a surprise "army shoe box" with champagne and cake and photos of us (my dog and me lol) wearing party hats to send to him...he says hes too old for birthdays miserable sod! I also bought him a St Christopher with "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" engraved on the back, because he pretty much wanders everywhere and knows exactly where hes going! Do you think thats ok?
I'm a vet nurse and he really loves animals which is why i think hes fab, he totally steals my dog and cat when he comes home and unfortunately looks at them more lovingly than he looks at me :D

He didnt want presents either! as he said he doesnt have room for them- so i figured he can put it on his car keys as its a silver keyring and then he can stop complaining lol....ive filled the shoebox with birthday confetti, hes going to see his bum when it goes everywhere :D

Yup, he even tells his work mates he bought me on ebay too! I went on uniform dating thinking id like to meet a fireman lol....i did end up going on a date with one who looked like george clooney....but who only ate lettuce and boiled chicken....sooooo not a turn on!! and I also met up with a navy guy who covered himself in his food and then when he went to kiss me, he SLURPED!!!
I started chatting to Matt last September, not realising what army life was like and damn it- he was posted to Afganistan before we could go on our first date, so we emailed and the rest they say is history! I would like to thank internet dating for helping me eventually to find the loveliest man after dating the BIGGEST freaks i could find.....im soooo happy to not be single anymore, I dont think I could have hacked dating any longer....Being alone with 35 cats and smelling of wee was becoming inevitable lol!!!

well hun he used to drive up here every weekend but hes stroppin after sumfin my mam said(if u look at my older posts u will see wot i mean) and so now i have to get the train dwon to camp every other wk nd he pays half!!! its a bit ov a mare though just cpz im a little lazy sod haha and sumtimes i have to take jay wiv me, but i have to say i enjoy bein down there!!

Im on the Wirral and hes now in Andover....its a total pain to get there because i hate driving and unless you know in advance, the trains are a rip off!! Hes just been home for his birthday weekend so its been lovely to have him back for a bit. We talk almost everynight on the phone too but in the 10 months we've been together i reckon we've actually seen each other for 2 lol! Ive lived by myself for 3 years so you think i'd prefer it when he goes home...but he just seems to fit in too well....sucks a bit :D xxx

hahaha sounds familar! met my oh on facebook whilst 'window shopping' he was away, came home for a couple of weeks and we met up and felt like we'd known each other for a lifetime, then he went away again for 5 months lol. since then its been lots of smiles and last week we got married and should get our quarters next week :-)
