View Full Version : wording inside invitations

jus been shopping with my mum for invitations - n we found about 10 nice designs all with stupid wording inside them. as tho it would be being sent from my parents "..........................request your company to celebrate the marriage of..................." n stuff.

now i understand that it would be nice to put that if they were paying, but they're not! they've given us a bit which is probably goin to be spent on a mini honeymoon, but the actual wedding itself is being paid for by us.
does anybody else find this weird or jus me?

the only set with the right wording was jus so plain so i didnt want them either. so we decided that we'd word it ourselves, type it, print it n put a border round it n put it inside note cards instead.

they're simple but classy, cream n gold, small pattern in the corner n it says "just to say...."

and for the daytime guests im thinking of writing:

You are invited to celebrate the marriage of
Rachel & Rafael
on .................... at ..........
at The Church of , Warrington

Followed by the wedding reception at
................ Hotel, Warrington

and for the evening only guests:

You are invited to celebrate the marriage of
Rachel & Rafael
on ...................... at .........
at ................. Hotel, Warrington

You are welcome to join us for the marriage service at .........
at The Church of .........................., Warrington

Do you think that's OK? any changes to be made? times aren't finalised yet so i hav time to think about it, well maybe a day or 2 max lol! also how do word the rsvp bit? im confused! any help appreciated x x

That is a good idea to make them yourself and I like the wording. One thing though hun, I think you should take of the actual details on this forum as it is public and you don't want to advertise the specific day, time and venues. Just thinking of your safety as you never know who may be reading. Otherwise, really good :) xx

Yeah thats quite old fashioned having invited from parents, i dont like the idea of it!!

Your wording looks good, i would add surnames, but dunno if it matters!

We bought reply cards (with envelopes), and popped them inside the invitations, so people could easily fill it out and send it back quickly.

thats such a clever idea gg, did you stamp them, or jus address them? coz the price of 50 stamps will double my invite cost lol! is it cheeky not to? x

We bought then online, so our address was already printed on the envelope. We bought stamps and stuck them on, but if your worried about cost you could always put 2nd class stamps on them? It was a brilliant way to get the replies back quickly!

i made my own invites, i think it's better to do that as its more personal. i think that wording is fine, i hated the wording in the invites i was looking at.

i made little RSVP cards, but also put my number so they could just ring me if they didnt want to send the card, i also included details of the hotel if they wanted to book a room and a map of how to get there. xx

ooooh very good point!! if all goes well il be calling into the hotel tonight to pay half the cost  so will ask the manager if i can have some cards, bit easier :)

iv jus ordered rsvp cards (off ebay £6!:D) n they should arrive on friday - jus in the nick of time to deliver them over the weekend.

im not writing names on individually, jus on the envelopes - so everything is the same n i wont mess it up lol!

Have you ever looked on Zazzle they do really cheap invites, but you probs need to get them out asap lol! I was so frustrated coz I could only find invites where you couldn't write people's names on, I wanted to be able to write people's names on so they knew who was invited- eg we've given some people guest invites and some families we have invited the children but not others so we needed to specify! xxx

yeh they need to be posted/delivered by this weekend!! im giving people a week to put the card in the post box so then iv got 2 weeks to finalise numbers n draw up a table plan etc!!

stil havnt spoken to the priest!!!:(

I would print "Evening Invitation" on the top of the evening ones or on the outside of the notecard. People can be dim, and you don't want any embarrassing misunderstandings!

When's the wedding hun? Have you sorted the marriage banns with the priest? They need to be read out 3 weeks in advance and if you live in seperate parishes they have to be read in both meaning 6 weeks xxx
