Just thought it would be a good idea to put this up as I find it fascinating to see what other people are reading and often it can inspire you to read a book you'd not have thought about otherwise.

I will start the ball rolling...

I am currently reading Spy Catcher by Peter Wright a book about MI5 that the British Government tried to ban.

The tag line that got me is

"For five years we bugged and burgled our way across London at the State's behest, while pompous bowler-hatted civil servants in Whitehall pretended to look the other way"

It is a fascinating read but autobiographical as opposed to a work of fiction and as such can be heavy going in places. If this kind of thing interests you then its fascinating but I know not everybody has such strange reading tastes as me. Maybe its a sign of getting old but I like to learn something from everything I read these days

I have put on my Christmas list the official MI5 and MI6 histories so I can compare the official to the unofficial version.

I am sure the book has been around a while but I raided my parent's bookcase when I was at home the other weekend

So what are you reading...would you recommend it and what made you want to read it

I haven't started reading it just yet, but I brought myself "A thousand splendid suns" today, as I thought I should try and read a bit more.
I've heard really good reviews so I'm looking forward to starting that soon.

Spy Catcher sounds good, might put that on my wishlist. :)

my favourite books are by a guy called Paulo Coelho. they are all simple stories about a particular time in the main characters life or an experience/ adventure they have had but they are written with quite a philosophical tone to them and they always get me thinking about the point of life and what i actually want to get out of it.... bit deep for a monday morning i know!!!

and i cant read them all the time, but i have moments where one in particular just appeals to how im feeling at the time and is the perfect read!

other than that, any kind of psychological thriller/ murder mystery is good for me. I used to love Jonathan Kellermans' books but ive not read any of his newest ones in a while!!

It's really funny, but also very rudey dudey and graphic so I sometimes read bits out to the man to keep him entertained. Pervert.

Well I got a couple of books for Christmas and as I couldn't decide which to read first I started them all :D

So I am currently reading Jilly Cooper's "Jump"

and

The Defence of the realm: The authorised History of MI5

a bit of a mixed bag, but hey ones easy reading (my Dad described it as Enid Blyton for adults) and the other is very factual and interesting and something i am very interested in.

,
I got Jamie Michael McIntyres autobiography and it's funny to sit in bed with him at the moment as he's reading it as all of a sudden he'll burst out laughing :p I'm waiting for him to finish it so I can read it.

I'm in between books at the moment, there was something I wanted to read and learn more about (a factual book) but I can't remember what it was now , I like crime books and thrillers so I shall see what I can pick up when I'm next in town.

lol i cant read more than one book at once.

i am terrible with books - i buy them in bulk from a nice little book store near work and then take forever with them. The last two i have read have been so boring that it took me forever to read and i am a bit anal and can't not finish a book.

I got Gok Wan for xmas and My booky wook 2 by Russell Brand but i can't start them until i have read the boring one i have got at the moment - death and the devil. Set in 1600's in Germany!

i bought George Bush for OH and he loved it - i am waiting for him to come home so i can pinch it.

I just finished reading this book, hush hush! i bought crescendo before christmas and am going to start reading it soon.
but it is one of those books where there is SOO much sexual tension between the two characters (nora and patch) and you just keep thinking, PLEASE JUST GET IT ON. and they never do, and its irritating!

haha

I'm reading "Once bitten, Twice Shy" by Jennifer Rardin at the moment. Had it and two more from the series for xmas.
It's about a vampire who works for the CIA as an assassin, Getting rid of dangerous vampires and the such. He has a human partner though and they have chemistry and theres lots of twists going on.

Very good so far to be fair. I can hardly put it down.

Before this I was reading the Twilight Saga...For the billionth time!! My favourite books to escape from the real world with.

I'll read just about anything though....to the degree that when I was about 11 I read the Bible, dictionary, thesaurus and the telephone book. Much to the amusement of my family who now like to inform everyone of what a tragic bookworm I was. Haha ahhh well could be worse I suppose. xx

Im currently reading a few different series of books :) Unleashed (house of night) by P.C and Kristin Cast, the house of night books are fantastic its a whole new way of seeing vampires, i love them.

Just finished Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead there is 6 books in the series and they are amazing, also read all the Twilight books!

The other series of books im reading is Lords of the Underworld books by Gena Showalter - they are different from any book i have ever read, they are about warriors that unleashed the demons within pandoras box, the gods hated that so they placed each demon that was in the box into the warriors. each book is about each warrior and the demon and gets very hot wen they meet the right woman ;) .... it helps wen the OH isnt home hehehe ..... i would def suggest these books the author is amazing she really explain everything in detail xx

I've just read all the Wicked books (awesome and very different from the musical) and I've now reverted to the age of 8 and I'm rereading all my Redwall books. These are awesome books for kids about battles between mice and rats (and other animals) and I still love reading them at the age of 28! Highly recommended :)
