Hi
I have just stumbled across this site recently, my fiance is about to join the royal Anglians, his training starts in march but he is now on a week course of what to expect. We have a 14month old daughter and due to get married in September this year just after his training, When we will hopefully be moving with him to somewhere called bulford near Salisbury i think thats what its called. So im planning our wedding mostly alone with help of family ect im also doing a distance learning degree too.Any tips or advice or info on what to expect would be brilliant. We are really going to miss him during training but he hates his present job and its what he has always wanted to do, so i guess im supporting that and am looking forward to moving and meeting new people. x

hey ya welcome to wags. aww congrats on the upcoming wedding :)

i live just down the road from Bulford. its not too bad, i find it a bit quiet round here tbh. its always handy to be able to drive so that may be one thing to bear in mind if you dont, just because you may feel a bit isolated. sounds like you've got a lot to keep you busy during the training period so that should help.

its never easy being away from the one you love but you do cope. xxx

hi thanks

I drive so should be OK i couldn't manage without my car, do you know if bulford is the base or have i got it wrong?Someone told me that we wouldn't be entitled to army housing till he has been in for over a year and even then there is a huge waiting list is this true or just ppl talking rubbish?
thanks x

aww that'll be handy then. yeah Bulford is one of the camps. theres a few round here, Larkhill and Tidworth for example and Bulford is kinda in between both of them. in regards to the housing, as soon as he's finished training and has been posted then ur entitled to housing so long as ur married which you will be by then. and yes sometimes they're short on housing but they'll have to supply you with temp housing if thats the case or they may give you a quarter somewhere local like Larkhill or Tidworth if there wasnt any in Bulford. x
