Our first tour!

New to this! My soldier has literally just sent the last text before having to leave his phone at camp. Surprisingly I'm not crying, think i've done enough of that, though there is still time!!! Haha.
Just wondering when I will hear from him.
Anyone else in the same position?

theres no telling when you might hear from him hun. It depends when his flights are, whether he gets delayed along the way, where he's going to be based when he gets there and how quickly they sort out his phone card etc. I'm sure he will be in touch as soon as he can though. I know my hubbi will try to get to a computer and send me a very quick email when he can to let me know he has got there safely.

thanks. It's all just so new to both of us!
he's been in four years but this is his first tour.
Longest we've been apart is 2/3 months.
But i'm counting down the days till R&R and have plenty of things lined up to keep me going.
Just think I will glue my phone to my side, just in case haha (:

Lol, the amount of times I have dropped my phone in the bath or down the toilet because I am frightened to be parted from it!

I think in the second box down there is something saying subsribe threads or something? You can click on that and it says receive emails. Give it a try! xx

I've just looked and it say this "When you post a new thread, or reply to a topic, you can choose to automatically add that thread to your list of subscribed threads, with the option to receive email notification of new replies to that thread.
Default Thread Subscription Mode:"

I wouldn't go for email notifications as the default as you'll get inundated. Unless of course you want that. But just looking here below when you're replying or posting a new thread, 3rd little box down in Additional Options, it looks like you can get email notifications just for that thread.
