Hey hun! Welcome to wags!!! Get stuck in, everyone's very supportive and friendly so don't be shy. My hubby is ex-army and now working private security out in Afghan, so any time your OH is away, I'll generally be joining you in counting down the days until he's home. :)

Hi hun!
Welcome!

My oh has just gone back (today) to start phase 2. So I'm very new to it aswell.
im not going to lie you will have down days. but you will find it alot easier than what you think and thats because you get stronger as a person.
he will come back for a long weekend after 7 weeks so thats abit better :).
i was lucky and managed to text him quite abit at night when he was free but that was quite limited as oh was very busy at night ironing and catching up with admin.
It was lovely having my own space. You get used to your own company.
Do you live with you oh? Where is he going to be doing phase1?
Any questions don't hesitate to pm me xxx

He will be in catterick with the royal anglians, I dont live with him but we are joined at the hip. im sure he will enjoy it, its just seems such a long time for him to be away and not being able to contact him when i want too. what is you reg is your oh in.

My oh is RAMC.
You can text him whenever you want, you won't get a reply straight away but don't not msg him at all. it is hard but after the first 2-3 weeks youll get into a routine. it then becomes quite exciting not knowing when you will hear off them but then as soon as you see their name come up on your phone, you get butterflies.
there are about 13 days across the whole 14 weeks where you cant speak to them and that's because they are on exercise. I kept texting my oh though so he had nice msgs to come back to.
Me and oh have been together 2 and half years. Lived together 2 years 5 months and 3 weeks so I was really worried going from living with him and speaking to him all the time to very limited contact but it wasn't as bad as I thought. The girls really helped me out on here x

Hi and welcome!

Catterick is an area I know well as I cover it at work. It's in a lovely area and only a short drive to the dales. Catterick itself is just a typical garrison town;)

My only knowledge of phase 1 is from the pics on our wall, so I am sure someone will be able to tell you more. We are based up near Thirsk and trust me being an official nobody (army wife) is far from the perfect life people think it is that said I live it so I can encourage my husbands career (read kick him up the @rse)

Oops: edited to add - the point I was making above was that sometimes it's nice to be with your family and friends rather than miles away on your own.....so try not to worry too much about the separation it becomes a way of life.
What about you? What do you do?

Ah yes! Birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas you name it the army usually send them away over it!

I never book leave for when DH is supposed to be home from exercises etc as I have never once known him get home on time.

As long as you try not to get hung up on it then you'll be fine!

Welcome hun, a fellow Essex WAG here :)

I'm sure you'll get in to the swing of things in no time, especially if you have lots i.e. your degree to keep you busy. My OH is in the RAF Regt, based in Suffolk and I have a fairly manic job down in London. Yes, the forces do rule your life to a certain extent, but be sure to do all of the things that you want to do too x

Hiya hun and welcome to wags!!!!

The girls have given you some great advice for coping with the separation etc. Keeping busy is the key though and if you have a teaching degree to be getting on with it sounds like it shouldnt be too hard to keep yourself occupied ;)
