Hi everyone.
My boyfriend is flying to Afghan today and I am a mess. I don't know what to do. He left home yesterday and I have hardly stopped crying since. I miss him so much already. We still speak often as he is stuck waiting to fly and the flights have been delayed. I am worried that if I am feeling this bad while I can still talk to him, what am i going to be like when he has properly gone?

I'm so upset, I don't know what to do

Im so sorry to hear your upset!
How long is he going to Afghanistan for? What Reg is he in?
My hubbi is out there at the moment so I know just how you are feeling I just try and keep busy and look forwards to the day that he gets home. Alot of the other wags on here have blokes in Afghanistan so everyone is in the same position as you and will support you!!!
Just come on here whenever your feeling down!!

Aww it will be ok, my husband went to afghan 3 weeks ago today and at first I was a mess and didnt want to do anything (still have dyas like that now but I promise it gets easier!!!) but you have to get yourself into a routine!!! Time will pass and my favourite saying at the moment is "its not forever" I miss him like crazy but I send him a daily e-bluey and weekly parcels and hand written letters and that takes up quite a bit of my time!! At first I felt very lost but now I seem to have settled into a routine. Another good tip is I made some massive wall charts with the months on so I can cross a day off every day and I have a diary where I do that to. Come on here whenever you can and the girls on here are great for support and are all so kind!! Just think every night he isnt here is a night closer to him coming home!! How long is he there for?? Hey Stacey and Gem!

Welcome to the best support you'll get whilst your man is away. The girls I brilliant, they are there to make you laugh, help you solve your problems and to help you feel that you are not alone in this.

Personally my o/h went to Afghanistan 5.5 weeks ago (i like the .5 makes me feel like I'm closer to him coming home) and shall be home sometime between Christmas and New Year... I am missing him like crazy but coping better than I even imagined. The first few days were the worst because I had to get used to living without my daily texts and calls. Like Kate said try to stay busy and in your down moments, if there is nothing else to do, write him an ebluey (they generally get delivered within 24hrs) or a letter or a parcel (they are free to send)! Parcels are great as you can send ages planning them, buying all the bits and you get a very sweet phone call when hey arrive at the other end. :)

So ladies... tell us a little bit about yourself... what does your o/h do?? How long have you been together and when do you get him back?

Life certainly feels crap at first doesnt it, id echo what everyone else says - keep busy and it will get better.

Ive done the first 2 weeks now and things have improved abit - saying that though I had a crap day at work today, I was talking about my team leader who has been very unsupportive and just burst into tears!!!!

Cue - hugs, tissues, a jaffa cake and a fag break!!!

You'll cry, you'll worry, you'll feel down and lonely but you will also perk up abit and laugh too.
