Hi all.....
Just joined this site and i'm thinking an intro would be good.....it would be rude not to introduce myself seeing that everyone else has......well where do i begin?.....Ok, i'm a 23 year old student from the North West studying for my BA(hons) in Architecture. Amongst all the stresses of obtaining a degree, i'm also the dedicated other half to a pain in the backside otherwise known as a Royal Marine Commando.....dedicated being the operative word!! I'm glad there is somewhere for us girls to go to have a rant about our fluffy bunnies in the forces.....God knows its about time!

Um...no/yes/kind of.....
Hes down south at the moment on a course for his new posting. I cant wait for him to do his leaving routine, he's been based up in faslane in scotland the past year and to put it bluntly, its been crap. But now hes moving to Wales (2/3 weeks time) which means he's a lot closer!

I no how ya feel bout em bein too far away...wen we met my oh was based in Northern Ireland...so rarely saw him but then recently he got placed in Catterick...only couple of hours drive away...its so much better now...well it will be when he's back from Iraq next year!!!!!

Its just part and parcel of having a relationship with someone in the forces....you have to put up with the gaps......
Don't worry about him going to Iraq, i've been there and done that with an ex in 2003, nearly messed up my 1st year of uni all for nothing....he came home without a scratch!....I'll tell you what, its true when they say behind every strong soldier is an even stronger woman! x x

Ah...im at uni...sometimes i cant concentrate on stuff and i take days off to see him....am prob worryin for nothin bout him bein away over there...but ya cant help it sometimes eh!!!!!
But it def all is part and parcel....and us girlies are well strong...we can get thru anythin!!!!:D:D:D
So true! That the thing, you've just got to get on with life, all coz hes away doesnt mean your life has to stop dead in its tracks. My friend's fiance' went away to afghan last year and she became a recluse, wouldn't step foot outside the door let alone come out for a drink. She became a total wreck and in the end had to go on anti-depressants. When asked why she behaved like that, she just said she could get the image of her guy surrounded by war out of her mind. Total potty! x x

Oh yeah...rite on...our fella's wouldnt want us to stop doin our own things whilst they are away...im a student nurse at uni, and its really important that i finish...poor woman tho!!!, i cant revolve everythin around him whilst he's away...i would go mad...keepin yerself busy and enjoyin life is the key to success!!!!!:D and thats why us ladies are so strong!!!!!!!:cool:

I mean, i see my other half about two weekends out of four some months then i can go two months without seeing him at all (his job is sneaky beaky) so its of paramount importance that my life doesnt revolve around him....lol otherwise i'd have no life at all. I think when you give up your life completely to support someone in the forces, you lose self identity and some people i've encountered don't agree with my method of relationship but that doesnt mean i'm not as dedicated as the next missus.....it means i've just got my own life to lead x x
Ah yeah i agree...but most ppl dont understand about havin relationships with a soldier/marine, etc...they dont get what we go thru sometimes...and they become ignorant to it....none of my friends or family understand why i would be with someone i dont see much of....and they dont understand why im feelin down....You def cant give up everythin wen ur with a military man...coz when he's away you would become a recluse....and thats no life for anyone!!!
Sometimes its nice to be so independent...as most couples do everything together and it becomes normal ...so when we do get to be with our oh's, the things we do are fab....even things like goin for a meal, cinema's....and we get excited wen we know they are headin home!! I still get butterfly's wen my fella txts or rings me!!!!!!! lol!!!
Its the small things i appreciate the most like waking up next to my OH coz i know i don't always get to. He worries that i'll get fed up with him being away all the time and i can undertand that but as i've told him time and time again, if i wanted to be with someone i could wake upto everyday, i'd have chosen to date a civvie....plus when your other half is military, you never quite lose the first flushes of being in a relationship, it never tires or becomes boring. I still get butterflies when i see my other half after a period of time away from eachother. I've dated both civvie and military and i know which one i prefer! lol but then again, that might have something to do with the uniform......so i'm biased i guess lol!
Na i get ya....everytime we meet again...its like the first few months of a relationship...everything is so excitin!!! I love wakin up next to my oh...its something that i really appreciate, that most take for granted!!!!
Its always the little things you miss....:rolleyes: and always look forward to when their home!!! I love how our realtionship is also so fresh and nothin ever gets boring....def prefer to a normal relationship!!
My fella always thinks im guna get bored of him always bein away...but im always reassurin him....i think that what most of our oh's are scared of...they dont get how much we love them and will do anythin to be with them!!!!!
The waiting isnt nice but when ya know its close to em comin back....thats wen excitement sets in.....i never felt any of that with a normal bf...and its like they say...Absence makes the heart grow stronger:D

I married to Lee currently in Afghan we own our own home back in the town where we are from and normally when lee is in this country i get to see him most weekend depending on what he is doing as he goes all over the place normally just for a couple of week apart from if he goes to afghan or iraq!
I often find that when i meet new people they dont understand why we are married or together cause i only get to see lee at weekends and thats not every weekend but i wouldnt change my life as an army wife ever because we have a fab time when we are together and the spark when we first met 6years ago is still there!!
Its not the amount of time you spend together its how you spend it that counts!! I know people that are living in one anothers pockets and they are dead misrable but been with a squaddie there is always that spark and always something to look forwards to, me and lee have never fallen out in the time we have been together now i dont know many women with civvie guys that can say that !!:D

Yeah i agree Shell....me and Matt never argue like some of my friends do with their fella's!!! Some of my mates have even cheated on their guys coz they were bored:eek:!!!!!!!!

Well you have to be a very special lady to be in a relationship with a soldier.....coz you basically have a relationship with the whole damn military if your OH is in the forces! 3 Cheers for the girls! lol x
Hi girls, i too am a studying WAG! I'm in my final year now and have no idea what i want to do. The work is hard and it keeps me busy and is going really quickly! OH has been gone weeks now :-( xxx
