View Full Version : Im new and would love to hear from u girls....
hey guys, i'm findin it difficult bein away from my boyfriend who's just been based in Catterick, North Yorkshire. Im rele proud of him for passing his trainin (and winning best shot lol) but i live in london. ive been up to see him once (he's been up 3 weeks so far) but its difficult coz train tickets are soo expensive. like £100 return. and im only 17 so only workin part time so cant afford that alot.
bit of background: i met scott in the beginnin of March 07 and fell in love with him instantly- a WEEK before he started trainin. so all ive known is scott bein in the army our whole relationship. it was rele hard because after bein with him for a week we had to go 7 weeks apart, have 4 days together, then go another 7 weeks apart again for his baic trainin.
If anyone is goin through the same thing havin their boyfriend living far away it'd be really helpful to chat because altho my friends try to be supportive they don't rele understand as much as you girls do
Hey hun
Firstly - Welcome to WAGS! Your in the right place.
Most of the girls on here are in the same situation as yourself. Its hard being in the forces but even harder being a forces wag. I wont lie - it will get harder hun!
If you love your oh you just have to deal with it! Coming on here and moaning and speaking to the other girls always helps though. Stick with us and you'll get through it all.

Hey hun!
I'm new to this too, but I'm in the same situ!
I'm 17, and when i got together with my bf, he was already in the army! I'm not going to lie, it is so hard! We broke up at one point about 6 months ago, but he waited until I was ready to deal with the distance and we're going strong. He's based in Belfast so I only see him every other month or so, but texting and calling helps. Tip of advice, they all love receiving mail! hehe.
If you need to talk I'm always here, us girls have to help eachother through!

Hay girls,
I'm Nicola, 25 and married to Cal whos currently on a posting to Afghan for 6 months. I'm not going to butter it up, it is hard, very hard being apart from your oh's but you learn to cope with it and it seems easier sometimes. You will have your up and downs days, it's normal. We are here to help each other through these hard times.

I thought it was hard being with a squaddie at 23 but my god you girls at 16 and 17 wow! Ummm my oh has just gone to afghan so i got 4 or 6 months before i see him again! All I do is never get my hopes up and remember that it is the army that makes the plans and rules and the army that are good at changing plans at the last minute! Don't take it out on your oh or don't take it personally when ur oh says the plans have changed! I really get cross with the army sometimes but never take things out on my oh! Be honest with your oh and trust him cos without honesty and trust what kind of relationship have you got?
I have been with my oh about 2 and half years but have only spent about 6 months of that actually with him thanks to the army sending him places or making him work weekends! I moved to york to live with him august 06 and since then he has been away for 9 month in tampa and a couple of months elsewhere and now gone to Afghan! So all i can say is make sure you are ready for that kind of life cos it won't get any easier! If you're ready for army life then you are one special gal! I think all squaddie wags are great! We put up with more than most girlfriends have to and support the guys who support our country! Be proud to be with your Squaddie as they have hearts of gold!! Anyone wanna chat just message me or add me on your msn! Love to you all! Emxxx
