View Full Version : Yet another newbie Marine GF
Hiya fellow WAGs (ladies beware I HATE my mans job)
Rite I’l get the borin “my name is…” outa the way. Wel I’m Annie, mid 20s, bin with my marine BF Lee (who’s 30) for 5yrs next month, no kids yet but av 2 dogs who cause no end of problems, not married or engaged either but have bought a house with him a yr ago. He’s a corporal currently based in Logs at Barnstaple coming up2 his 12yrs service….by the way I’m very p’ed off with his job at the mo, wel more than normal so I apologise now if I rant on. Wel las yr we new there was a chance he mite av2 go 2 Afghan for the 6mth tour but he was due to start his juniors bout ½ way through, so silly us thought they wudn’t send him. I lived up in Manchester in flat but my flatmate moved out so I ended bak with parents (not ideal with ur bloke stayin each wkend) so we decided to buy a house 2gether but a bit closer 2 camp 2 save petrol £. So I gave up family, friends, shopin & my fav pub in Manc to move to a small village outside Kidderminster (West Midlands) which we fell in love with. Typical luck with his job he got sent out 2 Afghan as us buying the house went thru. I ended up movin down here on my own & 2 say I was lonely was a huge understatement. However after 2mnts on my own in new house, area, job n no friends he came home, only 2 be sent off on juniors 4 think 11 wks of pure stress for both of us & the cause of many arguments until he passed. Since then all has bin wel until this Monday wen he rang me at wrk (unheard of) sayin he had gud & bad news, my heart sunk, he sed he had the nxt 2 days off but that he wud b goin Norway on Monday!!!! Less than a week notice!!! Until 14th Dec, I no its only 7 wks & so much less than wot hes bin away b4 & most of ur blokes are away 4 now, so yet again I apologise. I don’t mind him going, it’s the less than a weeks piggin notice that makes me sooo very mad. Oh & hes got Afghan again nxt Sep for at least 6mth tour so wil b away ova xmas or new yr oh n my birthday in nov (jus like this birthday n the last 4 out of 5 that hes bin away 4).
So sorry 4 being very bitter at the mo & I promise I’m not always like this.
Oh not able 2 check & post replys alot cos doin this at wrk as no internet at home (i no i'm like a fossel)

Arhh its ok hun the anger has now gone n turned to bein miserable n lonely. I feel guilty as my OH is only in safe Norway n only for another 6ish wks. I really feel for u ladies who's men r in places like afghan n especially ova xmas time. I no what u must b going thru is alot worse than wot i am.

Awww bless you girls that are feeling low. It doesn't matter how long they go for, we still miss them. If any of you want to chat i'm on here all day. I'm having a lazy day in bed hahaha xx
Lucky ol you, im at work meant to be working but not really in the mood mind on other things. I have had a string of bed luck with men this year leaving me with no faith. A Marine probably wasnt the best guy for me to start a relationship with but you cant help who you fall for can you. x

You rant away girl thats what we are hear for and sometimes I hate my hubbies job, he is in Afghan at the moment but not long before he gets back home!!! We also have our own house so I dont live on camp and he is based 250miles away!
Least your boyfriend is back for xmas and new year this year, I have never had Lee home for my birthday he is always away and thats happened since we have been together 6 1/2 years and dont think next year will be any different as he is off to Cananda! Oh well he always buys me something nice to make up for it LOL
So what do you do for a job and how often do you get to see him when he isnt on tour?

I'm glad i'm not the only one who hates their OHs job sumtimes, think hes jus at a rubbish camp where they get pinged n fastballed too often. If he wasn't what he was we'd neva av met n they luk soo fwuur in uniform, so it does av it gud points.
I'm quite lucky I spose, wen he's in the country n not on exercise I get 2 see him most wkends wen he drives home. Sat in work at mo on overtime, i'm a property inspector for the civil service but luks like they might b closing our office, thinking bout tryin for fire brigade tho, beta £ for wen lee leaves his job as he might not get paid as much (not that thats gona happen anytime soon).

Im very excited if all goes to plan he should be getting off the plane at Brize on Monday but he needs to spend a few days in work before he can come home so hopefully he should be coming home Thursday. In a way im trying hard not to think about it that much cause i know things can change with flights and stuff and then i would be very disappointed!!
He is just going to have a few long weekends then take 3weeks off over xmas and new year as thats when im off work I work in a school. So when he does get back ive got to protend to work he is still away cause im going to be ill on a few days that he has long weekends LOL
You got anything planned for this weekend?

Ohhh thats great, least u got sum decent time off 2gether. U got anyhing nice planned or u stayin in the house hehe. I no wot u mean about flight times but there again he cud get bak earlier. That happened 2 my OH cumin bak from afghan, he rang me frm Brize at 11pm on a sat sayin he was home n cud I pick him up (no, I'd had a bottle of wine by then), he wasn't sposed 2 b home 4 another couple of days. I've learnt now that neva bank on anythin n 2 expect things to change so u can't b dissapointed, so frustratin wen they do change tho.
Nout excitin planned gota stay in cos my dogs are scared of fireworks, i'm gettin old, decorating the house again, makin it nice 4 wen lees bak.

Im also doing some overtime kind of keeps my mind off things and give me some extra pennies to treat Michael when he gets back.
Think im gonna have to do some retain therapy when I leave here and hopefully get to go for a few drinkies with my friend and her fella tonight. My friend has been a godsend really, she is the reason im with Michael we met on her birthday night out, he wasnt meant to be out but came along with his sister.
Know what you mean about the dogs being scared of the fireworks, out dog doesnt like them either, bit of a coward really considering she is a staffy! But I still live with the folks so they just turn the TV up so she cant hear them.

No im not doing anything this weekend staying in the Tig my cat as he is very nervous and hates fireworks! Going for a look round the shops tough later on havent really got any money to buy owt but i can window shop LOL
When he gets back we are just going to lock ourselves in the house, no one normally comes round but knowing our look we will get loads of visitors will also go out for a nice meal together x
Tell me about it im broke, kind of just getting ideas on christmas presents today, dont get paid till the 20th. Been out comfort spending far too much to cheer myself up ha ha.
Im struggling to stay awake sitting at work its so boring, I work in insurance and volunteered to come in and do archiving has to be the worst job in the world lugging boxes around

Ye im the same shopping to cheer myself up but spending loads, Ive bought afew xmas presents and have ideas what to get everyone apart from Lee who says he doesnt want anything apart from me LOL but i cant not get him anything im going to have to think but what fo you buy someone who has everything?
You working all day then or just half day? Im back at work on monday after a week off as it was half term LOL
Just working 9 - 12 otherwise my brain will be dead. Its double time so thats the only reason im doing it ha ha.
I spent a bit too much money this month on Clairvoyants and reading for some hope with my situation, not the so much the situation with him being away but to sort out my negativity. I think if this wasnt such a new relationship I would be handling it alot better than I am

I think them been away makes your relationship stronger!!! Ive never had a relationship last as long as now and im sure we will have many happy years together LOL

Michael is meant to be surfacing for a few hours on Wednesday (fingers crossed) so hopefully I will get some contact with him, they are going back to sea for another 3 weeks.
I have never been in this sort of situation before so its all new to me
Well my fingers are crossed that you hear from him!! I cant imagine what its like on a sub :confused: and to be on it for weeks at a time!!
You kind of get use to them been away and then when they are home its just weird but in a nice way :D
He goes away next year for 5 - 8 months but I do think they will be able to dock at times and have some contact. Its gonna be hard just hope I can cope

Hey Shell, sounds gud bout stayin in wen he's bak, get a "Do not disturb" sign 4 ur door, turn mobs of with a voice mail msg tellin every1 politly 2 stay away. U need 2 b selfish with wot time u get with ur man. Its such a gud feelin & so miss just curled up on sofa together watchin junk on tv, eatin a pizza n gettin wasted on wine.x
Ye i agree Annie its just Im having to lie to everyone anyway as lee has told me not to tell any of his family when he is home because he doesnt want to have to go see them or for them to come see him the first weekend he is home he just wants us to have a romantic weekend.
So when there all asking me I just keep saying I dont know!! I feel so bad about it but on the other hand I dont wanna waste time see relatives! I know it sounds bad.
Ive got to get his car back to ours though sometime this week as its in his dads garage and Lee will need it, think im going to say I need it as im going out with friends and mine int big enough lol
