Hey girls,
So glad ive come across this site - been thrawling the internet for weeks now hoping for some advice/answers and this has been a little ray of light!
Been with the OH for 7 years now and about a year ago he decided he wanted to join the army?? So he has (we have) and he is at Sandhurst at the moment - he's been there about 6 weeks now.
Its been soooo hard - wev'e lived together 5 years so become quite depended on each other and to top it off last summer we moved to cornwall so about 3 hrs away from friends and family so i feel pretty deserted at the moment. Managed to battle through the last few weeks - lost weight, started guitar lessons, etc but he was allowed home last weekend and it really didnt go as planned. I just burst out crying and felt so angry/upset/confused!! Wasnt what i had in mind - i was so excited to see him and was so anxious that i just turned into someone i didnt know. I think its not being in control of our lives - the rules are so over the top - he hasnt even been allowed to call me?? Why not? He's not at war - he's in surrey?? I felt like i was doing ok too but now i feel its started all over again - get to see him again in a few weeks - for a day and a half!! Its not enough - how do you girls do it!?
hey hun I'm kate I'm 20 and my husband is out in afghan he deployed 5 weeks after we got married! haven't seen martyn for 9 weeks and he is home in just over 5! What reg will your oh be joining? Hope to chat soon xxxxxx
Hey - he doesnt know yet - which is also getting to me - he cant confirm anything. He went on some grading course for the air corp so most likely them but he doesnt have to decide until week 30 or sometime near then so who know?? I think the uncertainity of it all and that it all keeps changing really doesnt help!! Finding it hard to think of anything postive about his choice at the moment - im sure it will all change when good things start happening - they just havent yet! (sorry for the rant must be even harder for you).
hi hayley im lorraine.. welcome 2 wags hun!! sorry ur having a tough time atm, its not always easy but u hopefully will adjust. i had a crazy time last year with my oh being away in canada but u do get thru it with sum inner strength!! why did he decide 2 join the army then?
Our friend from uni went to sandhust and we went to his commissioning ball and he just got the bug!! It was really impressive and he's never really been challenged in previous jobs but its just a shame so much has to be sacrificed so he can do it!! Listen to me - im worse than an eposide of dawsons creek!!! Im sure it will get easier soon and definately looking forward to meeting some of his new friends (my single friends are too) and seeing where he lives etc. Hopefully after this year we will be able to live together again and be more slightly normal.

not married yet but we have discussed it alot recently - been together 7 years now so he'd better ask soon!!! not sure he'd have time at the moment but dont really have any doubts about it - and i think that if we had to be to get a place together i'd sedate him and drag him up the aisle!! :)

thats the best way hayley!! but remember if u do get married u will get a place on a camp sumwhere if u wanted that. if u ever need anything or a chat we r always here xxx
Has anyone else got a partner in the air corp?? I really dont know what to expect and neither does edd. hes never really been one to chat about stuff and its a pain especially when i have so many unanswered questions? i think its easier to stay positive when you know what to expect. xxxxxxxxx

Live just outside Newquay - work in Newquay too! Not sure if you know cornwall but our village is called St Merryn - very quite with an average age of about 75+.
i love newquay! my friend lives in penzance and i go down every year. wen i was down there in october we went out again in newquay. we went 2 berties and i have also been in 'the beach'.
hahahaha i know those haunts too well!!!!! Newquay defo isnt for the faint hearted - always a messy night out!! Ive just started teaching and its very sobbering when a guy comes up to you and says "hi miss" when your slaughtered!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh makes me feel old and i feel like i have to put the shots down and put the fag out!! D'oh!

Im 26 and edds 27 (in a couple of days). Dont feel 26 though - feel about 18 still - just fatter and have more wrinkles!!!
oh i doubt u do! im 25 but feel about 50 depending on how my kids behave during the day!

Lol, People always say that to me, but looking at it im already in Feb and hes nearly been gone two months. Prob flying by as i have my dissertation ruiniing my life lol

Welcome to wags. I can understand you being anxious about it all, I'm new to this too, although my oh has been in the army for 13 years I've only been been his oh for a few months and it is a whole other world eh? I think you'll just have to be patient for the first wee while, it seems things never get sorted out very quickly with the military......and then they change! lol. Just keep coming on here and reading what the other girls say and you'll feel better and know its not just you :) Have a rant whenever you like and we'll help you out where we can - keep smiling :)
errrrr dissy - i remember those days!!! the things you'll do so you dont have to do it!!! cleaning suddenly become very important to me and i couldnt possibly start work unless my bedroom was tidy!! Good luck with it - mine was on mortgages and house prices so im sure yours has to be more interesting!!

Yeah, uni in leeds but when not there im from Fishguard, although i was born in watford and have only lived in wales 10 years :D
im from newport just outside cardiff - pretty rough around the edges this way but i can say that coz im from there!! def miss wales when im in cornwall - loving the rugby at the mo!!!
Lol, got a few mates in newport uni. Fishguard is well rough now, been reported to be the roughtest town in west wales, thtas why i avoid going back lol

I'm Nicola, 26 and married to Cal, he is currently in Afghan and has been for just over 17 weeks now, he deployed 4 weeks after our wedding! It is hard when they are away but you do kind of get used to it. I love the excitment on them coming home etc. We have been together for 4 years now and the army has helped us keep our relationship alive.

Matthew gave my v day present to someone who has come back on r n r today so he can post it in the uk... matthew made mine.... so its prob going to be something army related... or something "usfull" as he always gets prectical presents lol. last year he was going to get me a screw driver set!!!!!! :eek::rolleyes: why would i need one when i have him?

Lol, i made him a scrap book of our relationship. Got my fingers superglued to the pages so many times i dread to think how much skiin is on there... but makes it more personal u'know... actual parts of me with him! Lol
