Hi ladies,
I'm 28 and completely new to army girlfriend world! I've been with my man about two years, but he's about to head off to Afghan very soon. I live in London and he's in Colchester so we're used to the distance thing, but my lack of understanding of military life is making his parting an absolute nightmare!
Have just read some of the posts here and found myself crying at my desk as some of the emotions seem so familiar! He's about to disappear off and I'm sat here sniping at him and picking arguments - so good to hear other people have similar situations. None of my friends and family have military men, so I feel a bit isolated - hopefuly not for too much longer!

Hiya...welcome:) im Charlotte! wel my oh isn't going off anywhere just yet as he's pretty new to army life. but i know alot of the ladies have men away. so unfortunately i cant offer any advice about the afghan thing but there are lots who can and will! Im still adjusting to him being away, its so strange having him here for the past 3 years and then he's down in cambridge. but hey shouldnt complain.
Well one things for sure....you'll be addicted to here in no time! Hope you feel better and there are lots of ladies here that are lovely! x x

Cheers for yor response- I'm a bit of an old granny when it comes to chat rooms and stuff so wasn't sure if this would really work! You getting to see your guys at the weekends? You'll be surprised how quickly you can get quite used to that - lots of you time during the week and a bit of quality time at the w/ends!

Im kate-marie 21 and my OH is currently in Iraq for teh second time! Dont worry about the tour hun, before Matthew left in early jan i was all over the place and now 2 1/2 months on im doing fine, his R&R is on tuesday and im seeing him thursday and its flown by soooooo fast!

This is so great - why didn't I think of googling this kind of thing before! I suspect you lot are gonna be my soul food - so nice to hear from people who 'get it'. My friends are being great - but just feel like a bit of an outsider when they're getting all upset about their oh's (am getting into the lingo!) going on a conference for a week. Yeah... my hear t bleeds for you.... //screams loudly

My OH is going to Afghan in June, only just changed from Iraq to Afghan recently! Which regiment is your OH in and when does he go?
Since I found this site and started reading some of the posts on here I have felt relieved and normal as, like you, none of my friends have military men either. You will find this site very addictive and the girls on here are stars, so supportive and helpful about any subject imaginable!

Hi, I'm pretty new to wags but it is so addictive!! My OH has just gone to Cyprus last week, but i was used to him being away as he was in Ireland for 2 years before that!
It's hard not to snap at him, they dont seem t understand it's because your worried!

No, iv only seen him once since he went in february as he's i training, (sorry i know that doesnt seem long to you guys) but its been hard to adjust to, but he's home on wed for 3 days :):):):) *Very excited* lol but then i wont see him till may at his passing out!! well lookin forward to chattin more!!

haha right with you on that one!! I'm Sarah, 20, my oh is in afghan atm been there for 5 months, he's bk in 6 weeks and I can't wait!! xxx
hey, my oh is off to afgan next month too. ive only been on this site a couple days but already feel better about the whole thing. this is going to sound pretty mushy but i had a photo album given to me for my birthday so ive gone through all my pics tonight and old crap ive kept like cards...etc... and put them in there so when he is away i can pic it up an av a look when i miss him. sad i know lol! im here if you fancy a chat.
