Hi, I have read some of your other threads and to be honest I feel a bit of a fraud joining this site. You all seem to be in worse situations than me and have been together many years, or are married, or with children etc and I'm struggling now! My boyfriend is doing his trade training and we have only been together for coming up for 3 years and I have never had to experience him being posted away and this has been hard enough. However he did manage to strech his stay at Halton (into about 32 weeks due to a couple of shoulder dislocations!!) and I'm currently away in Europe on my year abroad.
I don't know really what I'm expecting from joining this site (I guess a bit of real insight as to what it is really like being a WAG and coping with your OH going away and stuff, at the moment I don't think I'm doing a very good job of getting to grips with it all!). Judging by other comments on here, it takes some getting used to but it is possible! It's strange because apart from my boyfriend, I don't really have any other connection with the RAF, so don't really have anybody to talk to about what it is really like. So thought you guys might be able to help! At the moment I just miss him like hell and can't wait to get my year abroad over and done with! x

HI Vicky
Welcome to wags, im Michelle married to a Soldier thats in Signals for 1 year but been together 7 years, he is currently in Canada and will be home in about 4weeks! Also done 3 tours in Afghan 2 to Canada and been to different places for a fews weeks at a time! You kind of get us to the coming and going, we live in our own home so when he is away I have our family and friends for support but they dont fully understand!
Im sure you will find this site very useful and supportive when you need it! There is others on her whos fellas are doing basic training or trade training you will fit in fine! So where abouts are you from and what you doing at uni when your not on your gap year??

Hey Vicky

I havent been on this siter for long. Ive been married to my hubby for 3 years been together for 4. We live away from our family and friends so that can be tough at times, but on the other hand your with people that are going through the same as you on base. My hubby currently out in Iraq, and we have a 9 month old baby so its different this time round for me. Although am busy in the day with our daughter the nights are hard when sat on my own. You do get used to it, but at times you hit rock bottom. This site helps sepcially when you cant get out and about. Plus with the RAF they are sent on detachment on there own, where was the army they tend to go as a regiment. So some times you dont know that many people round you. I didnt the first time he was sent away, as only lived her for 3 months, this time know lots of people so it is nice, just missing out and the nights out as no babysitter.
