Hi hun, welcome to wags. It's always hard when our oh's have to go away especially when they have to go places like Afghan and Iraq. Do you know how long he is going for?? My oh is going to Iraq in December, not looking forward to it. It's mainly the distance and lack of contact that bothers me.
We all have our ways of getting through it and keeping busy is the main thing as it makes time go so much faster. I try to set myself a goal to achieve by the time my oh is back, this time it's getting fit!!! xx
Hi Angel...
Im Claire, 21 and my fella is currently in Iraq... hes on a 7 month tour... hes done 5nhalf months so far...
Tours can be hard at times.. however, once you get yourself into a routine then time flys quicker.. The worst part of a tour is the leading up to it, once you have said goodbye, then u can sort yourself out and start countin down til they come home again...
Contact can be good or bad over there, most men can get on the internet daily, and theres phones to ring home.. and u can send them eblueys, and they can send them to you..
Trust me.. you can do this... we all somehow gain an amazin strength from somwhere..
I was in pieces when my fella left in Nov.....and i must admit 5 months have flown by... now im countin down to when he's finished and all done...
The girls on here are lovely and will offer amazin support x x x x xx x
Thank you ladies. Adrian will be out there for 6 months and he has 4 months training in portsmouth first - he won;t be able to come home at weekends as it is 5 hours on train so not worth it. i am hoping he will get time before he hits afghan otherwise will be almost 12 months away. the worst is he is only a reservist and we never expected this - most have volunteered he's been mobilised and we only got 5 weeks notice. i am dreading 23rd April when we say goodbye my sister is going with me for the farewell - no doubt will stop and have a stiff drink on way back.
i want to redecorate a couple of rooms and get fitter, having a breast uplift while he;s away so he'll have that to look forward to.
Will try chat room later on and see whose about.
thank you so much, only found this site through s friend and am so glad i did.
Aw, hopefully you'll get to see him before he goes. I'm sure you should be able to!! Plus they get 2 weeks rnr, so you can look forward to that, instead of just waiting for his tour to finish. Sounds like it must have all come as a bit of a shock for you then!! Once he's gone, things will start looking up, i think the thought of it is a lot more daunting.
Sounds like you've got some good ideas planned to pass the time, coming on here really helps and it passes the time going through all the threads.

hey lynne! i have sent ya a pm!! my fella is in afghan same time as yours and i need a count down buddy!! lol!! talk soon x x x x
Hi lynne, hope your doing ok hun. You're in the right place...I joined for exactly the same reason. It really helps to have like minded people to talk to and share these things with. It must have been a bit of a shock finding out... but we'll all be here for a chat and blether if you need it! Maybe you could go down there for a few wee weekends too that might be nice. Well hope your ok and looking forward to chatting xxx
I think this forum is really helfpful, you think your going through this on your own, but it helps to realise that other women are going through the same feelings as you...main thing is to stay strong and be there for our men because its just as hard for them as it is for us!
I'm having a weepy day today, i blame PMT and missing him

Just come on here and we will cheer you up X
