Stacey's (Cheeky.xx) Story
Hi everyone!
I’m Stacey (Cheeky.xx) and have been with my boyfriend Jamie, a Sergeant in the REME for just over 1 year, and we have come so far in such a short time!
So it’s probably best if I start at the beginning......
I met Jamie over the internet on a site called Forces Penpals, wasn’t looking for anything in particular was just talking to a few different people, some on tours, some based in UK. (Jamie was based in the UK in Andover about 2 hours from me in sunny Devon!) I carried on e-mailing my letters but just really seemed to click with Jamie. We seemed very alike in our e-mails and were getting on well, however due to my problems with anything electrical my PC kept breaking so couldn’t e-mail much. So after about a month of this I bit the bullet and e-mailed him (when my PC was working!) and gave him my mobile number, not something I normally do but something just seemed right.
So after 6 months of emailing, texting, talking and a failed attempt at meeting (I bottled it lol) we started talking about meeting again, and decided on Easter weekend last year.
I got the train to meet him, he met me off the train (after trying to pull away without starting the car! I was on the phone and didn’t notice!) and we had a brilliant weekend. He was the perfect gentleman, made me laugh, took me shopping and was just great to be with. However I still decided to tell him on the Monday that I thought we were better off as friends.
I came home, told my mum he was lovely but not for me and carried on as normal that week, but still texting and talking lots. I then received the hugest bunch of flowers (all pink-my favourite colour) thanking me for a great weekend and saying this is how he’d treat his princess. So that weekend I discussed with my b est friend Claire whether we could just ‘date’ over a long distance, after a long drunken debate she told me not to be so silly and said of course we could! Thus leading to a drunken text from me saying that I thought he was right so could we try just dating.
The following weekend he drove from Andover to Devon, picked me up, drove back and we had another brilliant weekend, leading me to then ask on the Sunday whilst he was driving me back home if we could just forget dating and just make a go of it......
So here I am a year on, and we have never been happier, we moved into together in December last year and also have a 3 month old puppy. Things moved very fast for us but I can honestly say it just felt so right and just seemed like we’d been together for years!!
In November he was posted to another camp and was told that he would be going to Afghanistan on April 11. Time has never moved so fast and before I knew it we were saying goodbye to each other for our first proper separation as a couple. It was in February that I was searching the internet looking for people that would understand all the different emotions I was feeling and that we were feeling as a couple. I stumbled across this site and haven’t looked back. It has been very difficult at times, and I believe that the build up to him going is one of the hardest parts.
Nothing can prepare you for the goodbye, the long days, longer nights and lonely weekends. This site has been a godsend in so many ways, chat rooms where I can always come and talk, cry, vent and always come away with a smile.
I now keep myself busy writing e-blueys, letters and planning what to put in my next parcel. Jamie is surprised at how well I am coping and we both believe that a lot of it is due to this site, as I am able to rant, cry, etc to other ladies in the same or who have been in the same position and get it off my chest. I do still have off days but one look at how far we’ve come and coming on here to cheer myself up sorts me out in no time.
I am now counting down to his R & R and cannot wait for that first kiss and hug.........
Army wives and girlfriends are some of the strongest people around and if you are looking for some support, then you have come to the right place.
Welcome to Wags!!
