Army Wives and Girlfriends

Kate’s story – Wags United, what it has done for me

Army Wag? NavyWag? RAFWag? When you hear that term what does it mean to you?

When joining WAGS UNITED I thought it was just a slogan, and I wasn’t sure if I would get what I needed from the site, but soon enough I realised it wasn’t just a slogan but a community of support where you can cry, laugh and share with each other, while developing friendships which are stronger than anything I’ve ever known.

When I first joined the ArmyWags site I didn’t really know what to expect, my boyfriend had just decided to sign on for another 7 years and I felt my world had fallen apart, My life was going to change dramatically and I was going to spend months at a time on my own…or so I thought.

Since joining WAGSUNITED I have gained so much confidence in my relationship, and in myself. The life of a Wag is hard but when you can talk openly about the tough times and also the good with other women who understand, it reminds you of how strong us girls are to love someone in the services, even when we are feeling low, Wags keeps us going.

The girls are always there to offer support and help you through the tough times.

It’s like the saying suggests a problem shared is a problem halved…well if you share a problem here you get so much support it feels like a problem dissolved.

I now look forward to my life as an ArmyWag, I have the man of my dreams by my side, support from the strongest women I know and a space to laugh and cry. If I hadn’t found WagsUnited I don’t think I would have been strong enough to be an Army girlfriend, so I owe this site a lot.

I know I face tough times but it doesn’t scare me now, and it’s all down to WagsUnited.
